Scott leaving

I am told by a very reliable source that he is leaving at this time because of personal family issues. This job will give him an opportunity to be a head coach and to take care of his family.

who knows - here are some quotes from June, 2010

"Scott's return to BU is a "Dream Come True""
"As far as former Bradley basketball star Willie Scott is concerned, his return to the Hilltop as an assistant basketball coach is not only ???a dream come true,??? but part of God??™s plan."
"...always wanted to coach at the college level..."

....hope we can replace Willie with a seasoned recruiting specialist.
We need to knock it out of the park with a hire that will get us some solid Chicago talent...
I have a few suggestions but maybe will hold onto them a little while -perhaps Willie's replacement is already decided as happened once before.....

Rick Malnati.

I would love that selection...but then we'd get hammered with negative recruiting because of "lack of diversity" on our coaching staff.

Nope - whoever they hire will be a minority or there'd be an uproar.

Whatever the reason, I wish him best luck in the future. Maybe someday he can help get a recruit to BU.

I do hope they can get a strong recruiter.

This will be the official reason given. But I have also heard from a reliable source that there is more to the story. These kind of changes just do not happen at this time of the year for the reasons given. But, I wish Willie good luck.

And the next assistant coach will not be any of the names mentioned. It will definitely be another minority, hopefully another coach with Illinois connections who will be able to recruit Chicago.

If there is more to the story, who cares?

If Scott was asked to leave, so what...

Coach Ford has one responsibility and that is to help BU MBB be more successful.

If, in his opinion, replacing any of his direct reports will increase his chances of achieving his primary responsibility, he should do it... at any time that he judges to be the best, overall, for his program.

At the end of the day, GF's record over the next 2 seasons will ultimately determine his success and be the scorecard on his ability as a HC. Time will ultimately tell!

Best of luck to WS wherever his career/life take him.

Unless this entire article is a cover-up, it sounds like this was Willie's decision.

As far as replacements go, I'd be interested in sniffing around Donnie Boyce.

Sorry to disagree, but everyone understands how the PJS works. They report what they are told, and they are not going to rock the boat by digging for the real truth. We were expected to believe that Bradley's women's coach left totally on her own in mid-June to pursue a lower level job? Now we are told one of our assistants, a key recruiter, leaves in September to make clothing? Anyone with half a brain knows there is much more. Too bad the media isn't interested in finding out.
How many more embarrassments do Bradley fans have to put up with?

Bradley loses an assistant to fashion?

There's probably only so much that Willie can say due to contract stipulations. What would you expect him to say? Even Les kept quiet when he left. Nobody burns their bridges if they ever want to coach again at that level.

I love Willie and what he's done for & what he means to Bradley....
I wish him success but it won't be easy given the situation at Dyett - if he can produce winning teams there it'll be a real great accomplishment.
Thus far the Dyett FB team is off to a tough start even losing to tiny CICS/Hawkins
