Scott Sutton turns Bradley down

Interesting note about ray too. Although Sutton may not have been my first choice, he is appealing. I would not be disappointed if he was our next coach. Jmo.

It must be nice to be able to pick and choose what reports and or rumors we believe.

This report fits with other local reports I have heard. It is definitely true.
Sutton is one of many that have turned Bradley down, despite huge increases in salary.

It's hard not to question all these reports, especially when Ray Giacolleti has now come out and said he has not had a single conversation with anyone at Bradley, let alone interviewed for the job.

It just goes to show that these reports on offers and interviews are questionable at best, unless there is a direct quote from the coach confirming that he has interviewed.

Again, realize that this may be factually true, yet it doesn't mean a candidate wasn't approached about the Bradley job or even turned it down-
Because Bradley has employed a search firm, it's possible that they have contacted some candidates on behalf of Bradley and gauged their interest. A candidate might have decined interest without ever having "a single conversation with anyone at Bradley, let alone interviewed for the job."
In fact, it is almost a certainty that this has happened with some candidates, possibly Giacoletti, as it is what the search firms do with the money they charge.

His success at ORU can't be overlooked, but the Summit League is not the MVC (the Summit had a conference ranking of 21 last season) - IMO, that's why he's not a serious candidate at Mizzu. I think he's a stretch at the MVC level, let alone the Big 12. Again, I applaud his accomplishments - he appears to be a good coach in a mediocre league. If that spells MVC championships for BU, I'm all for it.

Well this seems interesting....maybe things aren't quite as bad as expected. Sutton possibly DID say no only because he'd, understandably, want the Mizzou job over the BU job. Giacolleto says he hasn't been contacted by anyone at Bradley, and there have been a number of reports saying Bradley is looking, this time around, for someone with head coaching experience which would automatically exclude Paul Lusk. Has anyone thought that maybe it is Bradley that is doing the turning down of candidates? After all, as T and DC put it when JL was fired, the bradley position has extreme pull and has attracted many candidates....

Sorry but sometimes I wonder if those who are furious with the firing (along with the manner of the firing) of JL are the ones that are stirring the pot the most with the anti-BU administration. Is there an agenda here due to the anger felt at the release of one of BU's most beloved figure?

and again, delete away. The last 2 or 3 posts i've made the ENTIRE THREAD has disappeared

... Giacolleto says he hasn't been contacted by anyone at Bradley..

Giacoletti didn't say "nobody from Bradley has contacted him"

what he is quoted to have said was "I have had not one conversation with anybody from Bradley.”

conversation does not = contacted thru agents or intermediary, e mail, mail, fax, etc...

Very good point..and I just saw that in one of DC's post. So you think that he was contacted...you're 95% sure or what? Give us an idea.

The other way to look at it is that he has been able to be successful in a league that isn't going to attract the best talent. I would think that may be harder to do than at a school like Missouri.

For what it is worth, I am sure someone has contacted him.

Okay so let's role play here. What exactly is going on? I'm tired of only hearing reports of people turning down bradley and just basically hearing the same thing...after talking it didn't seem like a good fit.

Say I'm a coach that was initially interested in the job. Paint the picture very clearly as to what could POSSIBLY be said about Bradley and the job overall that would make, seemingly, 7 candidates, or however many it is, turn the job down...

If they are interviewing with only a search firm what are they saying to turn them away? If they are interviewing with Dr. Cross what is he saying? Are ANY of the candidates even meeting Glasser, and if so, what do you believe she would be saying to scare them away? Just cut through the b.s. it's been hinted at enough as it is on multiple threads...just come out and say it....what is going on? Or are they really talking to JL and he's scaring them away...

I am pretty sure the search firm isn't saying anything negative, nor is anyone at Bradley, unless the candidate doesn't like the financial terms (salary, recruiting budget, assistant's salaries, etc.).
It's not hard to figure out where a candidate learns the most objective information about a specific coaching job.

......after talking it didn't seem like a good fit...

interesting how we have heard those same words several times...so just what is it that doesn't "fit"??
surely the money is good, and more coaches have gone on to bigger and better success from a job in the Missouri Valley than any other mid-major conference, so it HAS to be a great opportunity.....
and BU would have the potential of a great recrutiing class coming in, experienced players returning, and even a POY candidate, a huge following, great home crowds...supportive community,
geez....what is there about the BU job that a guy cannot like??
PLUS -- if it was anything so blatant or obvious then those people wouldn't even be coming for an interview -- so what's happening during the interview process that is making it such a "bad fit"??

So it is JL? Not necessarily bashing bradley but just saying how it is working underneath Glasser? True of False

cannot possibly be JL -- as he is under an agreement that prohibits him from discussing this in any way --
did you not see Coach Les' appearance on the Comcast Sports Center?? It was almost eerie how widely they steered from any discussion that had to do with coaching or Bradley -- never even mentioned it...and of course nobody has even heard JL speak once about this entire thing since Sunday, March 6.
