Lose...

1 point loss to VCU. Tough call at games end. Looks like the ref anticipated a foul, raised his hand to indicate foul and, as the replay showed, somehow no contact was made.

At first you thought..yeah this will be a foul but WOW...no body contact and no slap on the arm.

Officials don't decide games. 8)

Did WSU not miss a shot the whole game or miss any free throws or make zero turnovers? Was their defense so good the other team couldn't score. Now tell me how in the h-ll the officials decided that game? I don't understand how smart people can make that dumb statement but alot of people subscribe to that way of thinking. Just another way of thinking what stripes have to contend with. Some things just never change. I might buy into that way of thinking when a team shoots 100% from the field , free throw line and makes no turnovers and still loses.Let me know when that happens.

Breath deeply...exhale. No one said the officials cost them the game. It was simply a tough call at games end.

But for all the times we have been told to stop blaming officials, and that officials do not determine the outcome games, they do.
About half of all games are determined by 1 or 2 possessions. And officials are human, they make mistakes, and they certainly have inconsistencies. So it is understandable and even occasionally justified for fans to think that some decision by an official helped change or determine a game's outcome.

Th ere you go you got me to agree a call late in the game may "change " or "determine" an outcome but no one call can "decide" who wins. There is a big difference in the use of there words. If the losing team had played better throughout the game a call late would make no difference. You will never hear me say officials don't make mistakes because I've never seen a perfect game. How many times have we read on hear that an official cost us a game and we barely shot 50% from the line. This is an arguement that will go on forever.

Impossible to argue an official's incorrect call/non call can't affect the outcome of a game and cost one team a win, and, give a win to the other team. End of game calls/non calls can often do that

Is an incorrect call/non call the ONLY reason one team wins and another loses, obviously not.

The thing which can't be lost on people is the Officials are part of the game we love, and their calls, right, wrong, or not made, are just part of the overall game.

Now if the officials have $$$ on the game.........................

This can only be seen as the Shockers losing to a lesser opponent at home -- no way to avoid it, this is a BAD LOSS...

Wichita's best players came up short--
Toure Murry was just 3-14, Kyles just 7 pts, Shockers' FG accuracy was way off...
Their RPI will be around 60 -- and one more loss (and they still play Creighton & at Missouri State) and their at large chances are toast.

One of VCU's freshmen was pursued by Bradley ..
Juvonte Reddic....averaging 4 pts/2 reb in 12 mpg

I agree that refs calls have an affect on a game. But so do missed shots, lack of rebounding, turnovers, blown defensive assignments, etc... The players, coaches and refs are all part of the game.

As a coach, I have never blamed the refs for a loss....mostly because I don't want to credit them for a win either!:D

You think they still have a chance if they win their last 2 Valley games? I don't think so. However, they would have an undefeated road Valley record, which looks nice. But that's about all.
Shox have to win the Valley tourney to get in...unless

Missouri St. & UNI win today, which makes WSU's wins at their place look better.
This B'Busters loss AT HOME should mean the Shox are not worthy as an At-Large team. They already were on the bubble.
There are probably 3 CAA teams that should get in before Wichita.

I think they have a chance but only because so many of the 4th thru 6th place teams in the BCS conferences are like Illinois and Maryland -- just hanging on and blowing games they should be winning, thus weakening their chances

Just a note... I believe in BracketBuster games, officials typically are from the road team's conference.

That would explain why there were so few fouls called in this game. It was actually a pleasure to watch. Had WSU taken care of business it never should have come down to that last call (which I also believe was a bad call).

Big daddystuck, best post on this subject. So many things go into the outcome of a game and you guys get all the credit for W'S and L's we just go to your town work a few hours and go home.

Maryland is out.

UIUC is in.

Wich St is most likely out.

Difference between let's say a 14-4 Wich St in the MVC and a 9-9 UIUC in the B10 is UIUC's wins over UNC and Wisky (top 25 in the RPI) and Wich St's best 2 wins are at UNI and vs Tulsa (80 and 95 in the RPI).
