SIU gets commitment from big forward

SIU got a verbal comitment from 6'8", 290 pound forward Eugene Teague. He is from a high school in New Jersey, committed originally to University of South Florida but failed to qualify out of high school, and went to a prep school, Apex Academy in New Jersey. He chose SIU over Coastal Carolina, South Florida and Iona.

That's what he looks like to me too. And like SFP said, that 300 pounder at UW-M killed us. I thought after that game, why not look at some big HS linemen, just 1 maybe 2, every 2-4 years.

Those ratings are meaningless. Rashad Austin was a Top 100 player coming out of high school.

I think you are right, and it's a joke. I checked google, and there is no history this kid has of any legal issues or anything that resembles thug behavior.
I think it looks like a good pickup for Lowery. I just wonder, with the abundance of schools in the East, how this kid slipped through the cracks, and ended up at SIU.
