SIU message board

A day or two before the SIU/ Bradley game I was checking out the Salukis message board. They had a 7 page long thread called "Jim Les" basically making fun of Les and Bradley fans in general for no good reason, very immature. Well, after several pitchers of beer and a big BU win, I couldnt resist going back to their crappy site and talking some trash.

You know what, bulletin board material will come back and bite those who talk trash against a team just about every time! And that's what makes this win even sweeter! :D

I'm honestly not a fan of your post, Ryan. If they had been on here giving us crap, maybe I'd feel differently.

In general, they're not worth talking to. I try to communicate with people from SIU, but they all have a propensity to just furrow their eyebrows in a vain attempt to understand the situation. But they're not just stupid, they're also tacky. Seriously, they're awful in St. Louis. Every year they represent themselves with the least class, dignity, and general decency of any of the the MVC schools.

SUB-PAR PUB-LIC SCHOOL (clap clap, clap clap clap)

Funny you should mention that t! We were walking through the concourse on our way out after the game when a big "BU (clapclap) BU (clapclap)" chant started. There was a high school-aged girl in a Drake t-shirt that was kind of joining in and one of the people she was with must have asked her what she was doing. Her reply: "I always root for Bradley, they're nice people!" :D

Nice posting of the Yugos. I'm glad you get the joke. Your Braves took it to my Dawgs on Friday. No excuses here. Bradley was the better team. I'm not sad to see Theron Wilson go. He's a very good player but he showed his true colors against SIU.

As did the Salukis. As I said before, same old salukis! I guess if you're gonna foul a guy.....just hold on to his arm and flip him over your back! Classy play!

The Saluki fans who were at the game were classy as best I could tell.....
the ISU fans who sat in our section (the had probably bought upper bowl tix) were, of course, rooting for SIU.

Here is my take on whose fan base did the best job.....

#1 Bradley - not only did we have a huge number of fans, ours were the classiest and the best. There is no doubt our red outnumbered SIU's maroon 2:1.
Also, everywhere I went in the malls & downtown, the BU red was everywhere.

#2 Wichita State - even in a down year they bring a ton of fans but they were not that loud except a few minutes when they had the game won!

#3 Creighton - big crowd, but their students were the epitome of immature, irresponsible, and wasted fans. Their school should issue an apology and install security cameras next time.

#4 SIU - their fans were good but smaller in number than BU's, but they still had maybe the 4-5th biggest crowd. Not a very big or loud student section.

#5 UNI - this is the first year I can recall this many UNI fans...they were here in good numbers.

#6 Indiana State - not many fans but a little louder this year. They seem to really like that light blue color!

#7 Evansville - maybe Evansville is too far to drive but I didn't see many.

#8 ISU ...almost as if they didn't know they were in the tourney...someone call 'em up so they get there for Saturday's games.

#9 Missouri State - these guys are one of the closest teams and they showed up in modest numbers for their own game Thursday,
given they are a low seed, but few of them stayed around.

#10 Drake - never saw a single Drake fan anywhere...not the games, not the malls, not the hotels or restaurants.
I know there were some Thursday night, but they went home early.

Tornado,I read the blurb in the St. Louis Post Dispatch about the BU/SIU contest and the guy that wrote it said the crowd was mostly SIU fans.

So you say it was mosty BU

He says it was mosty SIU

I was there and I kinda thought it was about even.

Who has got the accurate report here?

I'd guess there were more Bradley fans than SIU fans. The number of fans wearing red was aided by a good deal of Illinois State fans that showed up to root against Bradley, which I thought was funny. Still this was not a good showing for SIU's fanbase. Our student section was much more empty than I can ever remember it being before. Fair weather fans stay home during seasons like this one. Hopefully next year we'll be back in full force to make it our home away from home again.

The reporter may also have mistaken the Missouri State fans as SIU fans. There were a lot fewer MSU fans than usual, but there were still some, and they wore the same color as the SIU fans.
