As you know, McGee started at Indiana, then went to Auburn, never played there and landed at Wabash Valley.
My guess is there's some baggage - maybe academic...

but since being at Wabash - I cannot find a single mention of Brandon McGee in any recruiting context....except that his coach and team have put together a recruiting video for him and the text says that Baylor, Kentucky, and Marquette are looking at him.........
http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=JP&hl=ja&v=H_CGV9gwG3Q
(this video is pretty impressive - the kid looks good and one message board comment says he has posted on his Facebook that he's wanting to go to Kentucky when all their one-and-done players vacate)
McGee did have an injury in mid-December and surgery on his elbow on Dec. 21, and will be out 'til February

I did find one comment from their head coach Dan Sparks -
"..we look forward to getting McGee back in February. We have several NCAA
Division I schools in to look at our players, scouts from high majors to
mid-majors along with scouts from high major Division II schools," said Sparks.
So far, only Josh Lockett has signed; he will be at Southeastern Louisiana
University next season."

btw-here's a story from a while ago on Brandon Dunson that I found -

uh, anyone notice this guy:

Ricardo Ratliffe - Central Florida CC - 27ppg, 11rpg

those are some legit stats. and he's a FRESHMAN.

From what I hear he's a lock for Illinois State

hardly -- right now Ricardo Ratliffe is one of the most hotly pursued kids in the country...

and he is a sophomore, not a freshman, which is why Tom Crean is going hard after the kid so he can get some instant scoring!!
Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisville, Cincy, Clemson, Mishigan State, UConn, and others are after him...

oops my bad. i saw the article with 2009 on it and assumed it was from this season...but it was from the end of last season (although he did average 26 and 10 as a frosh).

However about ISU, I have sources that say he is a virtual lock. He is being pursued very hotly by all of the major schools as you have said but he was strong ties to the staff at ISU.

OK..I don't know what gets talked about behind closed doors...but in that one video interview, Ricardo named a ton of schools, and must have forgotten to mention ISU

I am unable to find any mention of Jank or ISU in the context of Ricardo Ratliff, but I did find a nice old pic of Tim Jankovich...

Thanks for that link.......personally on those down days without a lot of action to follow, I enjoy reading about some of the Central IL kids and how they're doing..
your link helps........

One question - I know he's just a freshman, but Riggs' numbers at Highland are maybe a little lower than I expected the for the kid...he really is a D-I caliber player but he's only shooting about 30% from outside.
What's up, has he been injured or forcing too many shots?

Here's a few more.......

Marquise Carter (WSU recruit) 18.3ppg, 3.9rpg, 6.1 apg, 43% on 3pt, 3.6 TO/gm
Desmond Holloway (juco AA last year and teammate of Brandon Dunson) 17.2ppg, 4rpg, 2apg, 2.4spg, 49% from the floor
Phillip Jurick (6-11 center also Creaned at Tennessee just like Daniel West) 12.5ppg, 11rpg, and leads the nation w/ 6 blocks/gm!
Daniel West (Pensacola) 12.2ppg, 3.5rpg, 5.6apg, 35% from the floor, 25% from 3pt (17-68 ), 3.6 TO/gm
Dionte Watkins (a Chicago kid at Daley College) 27ppg, 3.2rpg, 5.7apg, 45% on 3pt

also Billy Baptist at Quincy U. last night hit his first 11 shots and finished 11-12 with 26 pts/10 rebs/zero turnovers..QU is now 15-0

Here's an update on Dunson dated today (01/15/10): http://www.chicagohoops.com/articles1/brandondunson2.html

Marquise Carter is also being heavily pursued by Illinois State University. Phillip Jurick is headed to Tennessee-Chattanooga afted being janked at UT and Diante Watkins is reported to have interest from Bradley.

BTW, Ricardo Ratliffe is regarded as the nation's number one player. He's not headed to Illinois State. He's got offers from virtually every hot program in the country.

Wichita State signee, 7-footer, Ehimen Orukpe hasn't played since December 20...
he has suffered a stress fracture in his left foot and is still likely to be out for a few weeks.
Players who are right handed tend to get their stress fractures in their left feet (like Andrew Warren, Dyricus Simms-Edwards, Michael Jordan, Yao Ming, etc..)
as that's the foot they generally "take off" from when jumping....but some, especially if they are not "high flyers" can still get them in their right feet.

Great thread, but I have one request, maybe someone else will agree. Could we please , pretty please recruit players that are over 6' 8" tall with some consistency. I would like to see a list of recent recruits listed by heighth. I bet we average around 6'3". We could really use some more inside presence right now, WE is doing good but he cant do it all and we pretty much dont have any depth with the bigs.

Wichita State signee, 7-footer, Ehimen Orukpe hasn't played since December 20.....

Orukpe is back and here's a little blurb about him........

"WSU coach Gregg Marshall stopped by Poplar Bluff, Mo., on his way to
Carbondale to watch Ehimen Orukpe play Saturday for Three Rivers
Community College. He was pleasantly surprised to see him play as much as
he did, considering Orukpe had missed seven games with a stress fracture in
his left foot. Orukpe??™s defense remains a plus. He continues to be a project
with the basketball. Overall, Marshall was pleased with what he witnessed.
He knows WSU coaches will get a lot of time to work with Orukpe over the
next three seasons and the starting point is a good one."

Ricardo Ratliffe - Central Florida CC - 27ppg, 11rpg..
From what I hear he's a lock for Illinois State

uh oh...tough break for the Redbirds...looks like Ricardo Ratliffe doesn't agree..

"According to the man himself...Ricardo Ratliffe has narrowed his four-year
college choices to six schools. In no particular order: Missouri; South Carolina;
Alabama; Arkansas; Clemson; and Florida."

http://www.cfpatriots.com/2010/02/official-ricardo-ratliffe-short-list.html

Followup on Kaylon Williams...
pg who bolted from Evansville and spent this past year at Kirkwood (D-II junior college)
In an interview today he says this...(kind of a rip at Evansville)

"Kaylon says he rushed in the decision to go to Evansville, and is now looking
for a bigger and better offer.
With Anthony Tucker being released from his scholarship at Iowa the Hawkeyes
now have an open ride for next season.
Williams says he would love to play in the Big 10, and an offer from Iowa would
be at the top of his list. "

Here are his stats...remember - he was a good PG in the Valley as a freshman (6.3 ppg/4.9 apg)...so don't you think he'd absolutely dominate at a lowly D-II juco??
He's getting 11.8 ppg/7 apg...
He's hoping for an offer from Iowa, but don't they have Cully Payne who still has 3 more years??

I'm not a big fan of Kaylon's, but those numbers are pretty decent. 11 PPG and 7 APG are fairly solid. He plays at Kirkwood CC, but they play alot of D1 JC's. They play Southeastern Iowa, Indian Hills, Marshalltown, and other D1's. They are 1 of 3 teams in their conference to be rated in the top 11 nationally. UNI has gotten guys from Kirkwood like Adam Rodenberg, David Gruber, and Ali Farokhmanesh. Below is Ali's averages. Kaylon has more assists than Ali by a lot, but his ppg average is a little behind.

Farokhmanesh (pronounced Fuh-ROAK-mah-nesh) was a first-team NJCAA Division II All-American this past season at Kirkwood Community College. He helped lead the Eagles to a 32-4 record and a third-place finish at the national tournament. Farokhmanesh averaged 16.5 points, 4.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game as a sophomore, while shooting nearly 50 percent from three-point range. He was named Most Valuable Player of NJCAA Region 11 and the Region 11 tournament. He prepped at Iowa City West High School and played his freshman year at Indian Hills Community College.

those are some legit stats. and he's a FRESHMAN.

From what I hear he's a lock for Illinois State

despite Redbird fans' claims that Ricardo Ratliffe was a lock for ISU--
he is still on the board and a new story about him says that just about every top school in the nation is after him...
He is averaging 28 ppg, 13 rpg...
His top two schools are Alabama and Arkansas...and because he's only got two years left at the D-I level he doesn't mind noting that the chance for immediate playing time is his highest priority..
he probably knows about another kid Tyrone Appleton, who was one of the top juco kids and went to Kansas, and never played because he dumb enough to go sit behind Sherron Collins.
Ratliff still has at least more visits planned, but ISU is not among them...
