Some Thoughts/Questions

Carver was like a morgue for most of the game (isn't it almost always nowadays), but it really rocked at the end with our mini-comeback.

You're contradicting yourself, claiming that the atmosphere was quiet but then taking umbarge to folks in the rafters yelling at the players. Can't have it both ways, if you want a loud environment folks will yell stuff, even if it makes them armchair coaches. :)

Thank you....now I agree there are *****s that cuss or yell at players "you $uck" etc....I don't think there is any excuse for THAT stuff but normal support, cheering and jeering is fine.

A little off topic for this thread, but I think that one of the reasons for the ugly play and winning ugly is that we recruit guards who are slashers with limited range for their shots. Aside from SM and AW, and a developing MK, I am not impressed with the outside shooting of our players.

Benintor you are right that is why instead of taking a big man project I wanted a shooting guard in a bad way or even a point guard with our last ride.

While I agree our shooting thus far has been underwhelming, they're not all going to be cold all year.

And in our defense, we've probably had to adjust our offensive schemes. Adjust to that first, the rest will (hopefully) follow.

I also disagree, 9, that a shooter is imperative. We have enough guards.

2007 which was our best shooting team probably in 40 years...no one on that team shot better than 25% the previous year.

What I am saying we haven't had a shooting guard since JC and we need one. And I am not sure what we will have in a point guard next year.

A good 3 point shooter will spread the floor so it will be easier for the other guards to drive the ball.

Agreed. But a good 3 point shooter needs to be open. If that's all you do, defenses will take that away.

You need post play to open things on the perimeter and keep defenses honest.

Ok...Who do you see stepping up to shoot the three on a consistent basis besides SM and AW, and MK this year? I can see DD improving. Maybe DSE?? IMO, forget about WL this year. While I like his overall game, his outside shot needs to be redone.
Agree with you regarding the offensive schemes being adjusted and I don't fault the staff for going after a 7 footer.

I am happy with our shot distribution thus far with the exception of maybe one particular player, so I don't think any one player needs to really step out and do more.

I wish we would run screens like Coach Knight did for Steve Alford. AW has a silky smooth jumper and with a little space he is deadly. What was up with him setting screens on top for SM? I'm a bit perplexed that our offense is not about using our bigs to set picks down low and have SM, DD or AW run through a few bodies to free themselves up.

One more note. AT looked good but he struggled keeping up with his man off of screens. A better team will kill us if AT does not position himself better when his man is setting screens.

This is exactly what we need if we ever expect to get open looks, keep our post players inside and use them to play more inside out and high low offense as it is insane to have them set screens so far away from the basket, maybe our coach needs to look at the film on how Pitino runs his offense, your inside players get a lot more touches and his outside shooters get more open looks.

Isn't the Duke way, drive baseline and kick out top for a straight 3 point shot
?
I think we would shoot better and more predictably rebound if we were shooting from the top of the key instead of odd side angles, too...

IF BU ever plays big? Seriously man. Watch the games if you're going to comment on our play. We played two big men all game last night save for very short stretches. There were fewer high screens, they boxed out, especially in the secodn half, we generally did stuff right big-men wise. Our guards couldn't hit the broad side of the barn, but that's a different issue.

I will not comment about BU playing big again. I will not comment about BU playing big again. I will not comment about BU playing big again. I will not comment about BU playing big again. I will not comment about BU playing big again....
