Here is a thread from the Saluki message board about the SIU-BU game. Looks like Bradley doesn't stand a chance. The voting in the poll is 88% in favor of the Salukis winning! --

actually, from reading the posts, it sounds as if the SIU fans do respect Bradley. Though their comments about Peoria are humorous. Like people from Carbondale have a lot to brag about?

I didnt' see any negative comments about P-town in that thread? Only thing I saw was someone suggesting it's a "short drive..." though I think it's about 5 hours...

I must have seen it in another discussion somewhere. That topic doesn't have anything negative about Peoria in it.

Hehhe, okay... thought I was crazy or something.

I think everyone makes fun of Peoria. I really cant blame them with the songs they play during the online breaks listening to WMBD.

:? I dont think anywhere can ever have another Jimmy's though.

Agreed. That's my bar too.

Well, if Bradley can find a way to score against SIU's defense tonight... I'll have a pint!

Line: SIU -1 1/2 at Bradley

They have to stop 8 potential scorers, we only have to stop 3 Tatum, Shaw, and Falker. Unless Young decides to have one of his infrequent, better games
If Falker gets in foul trouble, which he often does and Young does not show up, which he is prone to do, Braves win going away!

Stop Shaw and Siu only scores 55 points; Andrews and Salley need to score 20 which would leave 40 points spread out for Franklin, Ruffin, Tuai, Adams, Warren, and Singh.

I agree that Shaw is the main guy to stop. His scoring could hurt us. I see our guards defending their guards OK.

This just how it turned out. Shaw was the guy that hurt us the most with his ability to shoot well from outside. If not for those 2 late 3 pointers, Bradley could have put them away easily.

Bradley's guards are just as quick or quicker that SIU's, and can neutralize them with their tough defense. The Bradley zone was extremely effective, since their guards are not extremely good shooters.

If I was the SIU coach  I would play Shaw on the perimeter all the time. He is, by far, the best outside shooter they have. For some strange reason, Tatum and Young, who was a very good perimeter shooter the last couple years, are not much of a threat now.
