Southern Illinois at Wichita State on ESPN2 Feb 3

Southern Illinois plays at Wichita State on ESPN2 today at 1:00 p.m. central time. Unfortunately, I may have to root for Southern Illinois on this one.

I think we're tied with Wichita State in the conference. I don't think we can catch Southern Illinois, so I'd rather they beat Wichita State tonight. Then if we win against the Redbirds, we'd be a game up on Wichita State. Wichita State has been playing good bball lately, taking down UNI at UNI.

SIU is TAKING it to the Shockers ... very impressive...

I like the ESPN announcers, lots of good words about the Valley. But they just said they thought Randal Falker should be the Player of the Year in the Valley... I wouldn't even have him in my top 5 or even as the best player on his own team...

As I'm typing this ... WSU is going on a run, still down 7.

Wichita is making a comeback, now down only 7
44-37.
Lots of Wichita fans have signs, too, so is this something certain Bradley people find objectionable?

Braeuer took a nasty spill and looked pretty woozy coming off the court. That's a tough loss for the Shox if he's out for a few games with a concussion.

Final score 54-46-

It was an ugly game to sit through.
SIU got their usual solid games from Falker (13 pts/8 reb) and Shaw (13/7), and got almost nothing out of Young and Mullins as well as little from their bench (total of 2 points), as is usual. But Tatum was the best player on the floor all game with 18 points, 4 reb, and great defense. Everyone on Wichita State had an off game (27% shooting for the game and 5 assists!), but a lot had to do with the SIU defense.

That was a weird perspective to watch the game from. The camera was kind of low in the arena, so you didn't get the normal more top-down view of the court.

With #25 Indiana losing to The Hawkeyes, this should propel the 19-5 Salukis into the Top 25.

IU still may not fall out because of their win Wed. over # 2 Wisconsin.

#18,#19,#21,#23, and #25 all lost!
Hopefully that bodes well for SIU and The Valley!

Yes. I hope SIU gets ranked....it would sweeten a win over them in Carbondale. :)

Hey, I just like to be optimistic.

I heard the commentary during the game where they said that there has never been an instance where the conference champion from a top 5 RPI conference has not been ranked! That shows that there still is some disrespect from BCS coaches and the media toward the Valley (I'm talking about some of the voters from both of the major media polls).

However after what went on today, SIU WILL be ranked come Monday afternoon. You can take that to the bank!

This game reminded me a lot of the BU Creighton game on Wednesday as SIU got up big early and was just holding a lead. The crowd wanted to get into the game, but WSU could just not quite make the run, although they did get it to 5 points with 4 minutes to go before falling short. SIU pretty much dominated the game from start to finish.
