Injuries happen to every team. They cannot be avoided.
You have no "proof" that BU's record would be any different than it is today if everyone would have been healthy...you don't. You are living in a "dream world" if you claim that you can absolutely "know" how BU's season would have turned out if Dodie was healthy all year. We absolutely could have ended up with the same exact record...we also could have ended up with a worse record...or we could have won every game on our schedule...there's no way of knowing...so why bother?

Also...just to clarify...having a desire to keep our current coach in no way, shape, or form indicates that someone has a 'rational mind'. ;-)

Well said ER...now with THAT said I am one of those that think we'd have a bette record without all those injuries. JMHO...but, like you stated, it could easily be the other way where we would have been worse. NO ONE knows.

Bottom line is, as you stated, we are what our record says we are.

I am as frustrated as the majority of BU fans are. I'm not calling for JL to be fired...I just leave that up to those that have the power to fire and hire.

If they choose to I'll understand the reasoning behind it...if they don't I HOPE we can turn this thing around becuase we are trending downward and thats no where better seen then in the teams record AND the apathy thats slowly creeping in.

The attendance is a SURE sign of just how the masses feel and thats been very disturbing.

I think ALL of us on this board support JL...we support the players....we support the team but that doesn't stop us from being frustrated.

When the fans, and there are many, that are frustrated quit voicing those frustrations THATS when you have problems. Thats when it shows they quit caring. Right now we have about 1000-2000 a game that have reached that level......I don't want to see it get any worse.

Sure, the rules were different. But it was still a better and more prestigious tournament than the CBI or CIT, and BU had better league records and finishes when they went to those tournaments than they've had here in the last 9 years.

So you're telling me that there are 4 teams with more wins in St. Louis than us since 2005, and 3 others with the same amount? Asked and answered! Pretty much fits the mold of where we've finished since 2005 too.

what is the harder, tougher, more highly ranked, and more impressive schedule of opponents??:

A) the slate of teams Bradley has played in the past four postseasons going 10-5

B) the list of cupcake, mostly 300+ RPI and D-II caliber non-MVC opponents ISU has faced in the past 4 years going 34-10

C) the list of teams ISU has faced in the post-season the past four years going 1-2

Dis all you want, but when faced with the tougher games even playing shorthanded, BU has done just fine

Then why can't we win our conference or conference tournament if we're playing and beating such tougher teams? Seems like it would be an easy task by your 'logic'.

With the list provided, I would say Bradley hands down.

But I like to look overall, not at select samples. Overall BU is about .500.

Good or bad, I have not said. I just listed our overall numbers.

I think that is a fair assessment of his tenure. We are usually right around .500 in conference, and slightly above .500 in the non-con.

And I think everyone knows that and takes that into consideration and applauds JL and the Admins for the decent schedules.

But what does that have to do with the CONFERENCE where all the teams are equal and we still, playing the EXACT same schedule the EXACT same teams, can't finsh higher then 5th 7 of 8 years and CAN'T make the Tourney finals more then 1 time in 8 years and NEVER....NOT ONCE in 8 years finish in the top 3.

When they start handing out trophies and give us air time on ESPN for scheduling tougher then ISU I'll applaud all that.

The IMPORTAINT stuff....the MVC......we are not getting it done. PERIOD. END OF STORY.

BU has almost the identical record and same number of wins in St. Louis since the beginning of the Sweet 16 season in 2005, as SIU, Creighton, and UNI (they each have but a single win there more than BU),
and as good or better than everyone else in the Valley....(and the only reason Drake, and Indy State are even in the running is because they have all picked up easy Thursday wins)...

so I guess we agree........if BU has a truckload to bitc*h about then I guess all those other teams do too....so it must define the threshold for bitc*hing -- all you have to do is be an MVC team fan, right??

Playing devil's advocate:

We're comparable to SIU, Creighton, UNI in this respect, OK. But guess what: Since 2005, they've each won the conference tournament. We haven't.



The fact is here that both sides can argue until they're blue in the face because there are stats and trends that favor both sides of whatever argument is going on in here.

so in contrast to many here....I support the team, I cheer at the games and I want success not failure...

Oddly some of the very people who mask as Braves fans here are also posting elsewhere hoping for BU to fail, now will someone explain that one to me??
Obviously some people claiming to be fans are definitely NOT...

I'd STILL like to know who those people are. I know the VAST majority of fans on this board that are posting right now and not a single one of them is hoping for BU to fail.

I even know a couple that used to post here alot...left and visit from time to time and are in the group of frustrated fans but go to EVERY game....travel with BU alot and root for BU as loudly as, well as I do.

I'm frustrated right now.....but I'm on a plane for the game in CU Sat. morning and am heading to St Louis next week. I'll be louder then anyone at the qwest center and as loud or louder then anyone in St Louis.

WHO are these people?

I think you are doing a disservice to the board and insulting a bunch of very loyal, wonderful lifelong pasionate BU fans.

There isn't a SINGLE fan on this board that wants BU to fail......save for a few visitors from opposing team sites which is understandable.

Fans on this site don't WANT JL fired...they want BU to succeed anyway (legally) it has to be done. What EVERYONE needs to understand is we ALL define succes and failure in different ways.

Um, people criticizing the team right now wants it to succeed, you know. That's why they're criticizing. Because they want and expect better.

That's what I hate. There is no middle ground. Either you're considered to be too positive and naive about the direction of the program or you hate the program to the bone and wish despair upon it. Why does everyone try to boil fans down into one of these two categories when neither category really actually applies to any of the fans? And I'm not talking about the "extremists". Every fan base has the occasional nut. I'm talking about the apparent need to group all casual fans into one of these two categories.

It seems like I have to post this rant every two weeks now. Jesus.

AS have I ...well put. I respect ANYONE that can be totally happy or be satisified with how BU is playing NOW and has for the last 8 years. Its YOUR team and its YOUR feelings. .

Go with it...


But I ALSO understand how some aren't totally happy, want and expect more and STILL remain great, loyal and TRUE fans. And you couldn't have said it any better...they, including myself, criticise becuase we do indeed want "better" which is subjective.

And yes...not the occasional ONE fan that posts on a site under different names to flame.....

Look at the post counts of ALL these posters. ALL of them want BU to succeed. Of this I'm convinced. Haters do not have 2,3 4 thousand posts...they have 1,2,3.....
