Stephen Curry

I am amazed that a talent like Stephen Curry could go all season under the radar. I watched a lot of basketball and hear about all of the great talents that play for the big programs and I maybe once heard his name. Yes, Tyler "deer in the headlights" Hanbourgh is the so called best player in the country, but if Curry was at a big program would he get the same attention?....you bet. Big media focuses on big programs only, we all know this; but I just wish that a Graves, Emmenecker, or any great player that is labled a mid major player would at least get some recognition for being an absolute bad a s s. Go braves.

That will never happen. The Drakes, Butlers Davidsons of the world only clog up what is most important and that is whatever Kansas, UNC or Duke or doing. Those programs bring eyes to the TV and money to the Networks.

I just saw and heard about this kid for the first time this week. He's amazing! Looking forward to the game against Wisconsin. Should be a good one.

I saw him last year when Davidson almost beat Maryland. He came out of HS with a reputation of someone that could score but probably too short, not athletic enough and had a funny shot. I hope we can find the next Curry or Graves!

I think we need the next Josh Cox or Joe Alexander a little more than another guard. We've got the guard thing down about as good as anyone in our league.

I'd like a big guy also;) but I was just saying I do not mind finding a guy that the big schools past over so let's say another POB would be nice.

I disagree. I've heard Curry mentioned a number of times when talk of top players comes up. His problem is he plays in a weak conference and he gets no TV time (deservedly so). The difference between Curry and Graves/Emmeneker is that Curry will be a good pro player and those two will be lucky to find a roster spot in the NBA. And regarding Emmeneker, I think he gets MORE publicity than he's due just because he's a great story on a storybook team. He's good, but not "all that". I find his being named Valley MVP an embarrassment to the league. Who ever heard of an MVP with his weak stats.....makes the Valley look like a "no-talent" league, IMO.

Here's an example of a guy who is not a freak of nature (6'9 point guard, 7'2 TALENTED center, etc ...) who would really make Bradley from good to great:

I loved this first guy's game when we played against them last year, and he showed it again in the tourney. He's an example that you can be a dominant player inside without having to be 6'10 or anything.

Maybe these guys are "too good" for BU to recruit ... but if we're ever going to be consistently great, not just good or above average, BU must get a defensive stopper. Shooting guards are a dime a dozen in most cases, but a solid inside presence is the only way BU will ever stack up consistently.

Varnado's a BEAST.......and he's young and gonna get better. Reminds me of Olajuan (sp?) with his athleticism and great D (as well as lack of offense at this stage). He's gonna be a great one before he's through.

The thing that is so impressive to me about Curry is that he gets his points in the flow of the offense and plays off his teammates. It's remarkably different from watching Beasley at KSU who gets his points but plays like he is in the NBA and forces the action. Curry is a great player and I duno about draft stock and all that but I hope he plays out all four of his college years. It's amazing watching him work with or without the ball.

I don't know about Josh Cox, but I think we may already have a few recruits coming along that flew under some people's radar....now if they can stay healthy and develop.....
Sam M., Will E., AW, AT, and Eddren..

I have to agree! Emmeneker and Drake are great stories! Emmeneker in no way should have been the Valley MVP and he will never, never play in the NBA!
Hell he can't shoot / won't shoot the 3!!!!
To be MVP you have to have stats that JC put up this yr. plus the stats off the court which both Emmeneker and JC did.
JC SHOULD HAVE HAD THE MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is by no means a slight towards JC, but we finished 5th in the league and I know that Jeremy had a great year and has had a great career at BU but he didn't deserve to be MVP. Emmeneker may not score big points but if you watched Drake a lot this year you'll know that he more then made up for his lack of points with the little things he did. He's the MVP because without him Drake doesn't win the league.

Again, I'm not taking a shot at JC. I just think that Emmeneker was a worthy MVP, and whether or not he ever plays in the NBA has nothing to do with it and is not a factor.

I think maybe out of pure accident what you said, (you hit on something)!
BU finished 5th and Drake 1st. Does this mean Kemmeneker had better teammates so this makes him league MVP? I agree they don't have the yr. they had without him but this would only make him Team MVP with no league leading stats. He is a great story but so is the rest of Drakes team.
Now on the other side maybe JC's teammates are not as good as that on the Drake's team or even as good as 2-4 teams in front of BU. Now look what all BU went through this yr. (lost of starters) for what ever reason and BU finishs 5th. This is mainly do to JC's play and leadership! Every game JC drew the opps.teams best def. player and more often they got help from others, he also played the second half of the season with a bad knee. With all this his stats have continued to climb to where they are today (best all around in the league) and help keep BU out of the bottom half. So with all said league MVP's are not always on 1st place teams!
So when you add it all up, JC is the LEAGUES MVP!!!!
As for NBA, I never said it was a factor!! I would welcome another great story for this kid and JC as well!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Curry's exactly gone under the radar. I've known about this kid's talent for awhile, which is why I chose Davidson to get to the sweet 16 (which actually looks more like a sweet 9 in my case, so the Davidson win is about all I have going for me on that bracket). Last year, Curry scored 32 in a heartbreaker to Maryland in the first round. Also, he has appeared in a few articles, most notably ESPN the magazine, sometime around October/Novemberish. Curry sounds like a pretty nice guy, that article described a fellow Davidson student who had lost his wallet, and Curry was the one who returned it to him. Not too many people in today's world who would do that. Nice to see a guy with his talent not acting like he's "too good" to go to a school like Davidson.
