ISU saw the Niagara home crowd of 2400 storm the court after Niagara's 70-56 BracketBuster victory over the ISU Redbirds Friday night in Niagara.

In another example of ridiculous storming of the court....
Saint Louis University, mired in 6th place in the A-10, stormed the court after their 57-49 win over league leader Dayton, who even after the loss is still the league leader.

Can anyone recall the last time Bradley's fan "stormed the court"?
I think it might be New York, 1982, after winning the NIT, because I know the fans stayed in their seats in Auburn Hills, and the players came up to welcome and celebrate with us in the stands!

It happened in at least four games in a row in '96.
 
fill me in....I sit right at courtside -- in the same seats for 27 years...I have never seen it and have never been on the court myself....and can recall only a few students doing it on rare occasions, which to me does NOT qualify as "storming the court".
That would require the fans en masse breaking onto the court as in this....

The Niagara students storming the court was probably they were on national TV and wanted to end up on SportsCenter. The ESPN Effect.
 
The student section stormed the court twice I think during the '02-03 season. After the win against Pepperdine to open the year and then after a home win against SIU...I know because I was out there.

The things I remember most about us fans stormimg the court in MSG were a guy wearing a Versace wig, I think his name was Charlie, and me standing at center court and next to me was LaVern Tart. He was as excited as I was.

Dayton was ranked 25th, so at least they did it against a top-25 team. Turns out, Rick Majerus was the one who encouraged it.

He wanted the arena staff to allow the SLU students to frolic on the court as soon as the game ended. They were held back by security, who relented and let the kids run.

"I want to acknowledge the students again," Majerus said. "They did a great job. They gave us a big lift. How many times can they get out on the floor? We've got the police line out there. I was looking for the dogs from the Alabama days to bite them as they came through. We should have let them come on the court and enjoy themselves. For paying $46,000 (in tuition) they should. The players went back out. It means a lot to the players to have the students there."

He also has another idea that I'd be a big fan of ...

The other grumble? Coach Rick wants the students to be more consistent in showing up. He wants this kind of presence for every game. So he may try to lure them with that standard bait that works on college campuses from coast to coast: free food.

"I've got to go find someone who will feed the students so they'll come again," Majerus said.

I don't get why students storming the court is such a bad thing. IF we actually had students come to games, outside of the ISU game, we may also have court storming.

It adds to the atmosphere and is fun. Fun, something the Carver Arena atmosphere lacks.

Sorry you weren't paying attention. It started with an overtime come-from-behind victory against Tulsa and ended with the ISU game that won the conference. I can't remember how many home games were in between. During that short span, it did help more students come to the games. Bradley issued a notice before the ISU not to, but the security didn't have a chance after AP hit the shot.
 
I recall students trying to storm the court the last few years, and Civic Center security not allowing it. I recall thinking that was pretty lame of the PCC. These are college kids. Let them have fun.
 
I distinctly remember Deon Jackson, Dwayne Funches, Chad Kleine, and Billy Wright giving their senior speeches standing on the scorers table because the floor was completely packed after a close win over either Tulsa or ISU in late February 1996.

geez...Murph, there were so few students consistently coming to games in '02, that there couldn't have been anything that I'd have actually acknowledged as storming the court..
I gave some Youtube examples, it would have to be more than just a few students...!
 
While I don't think it was necessary to storm the court, SLU is improving nicely this year under Majerus, and the Bills have finally started to win some games. Beating Dayton is impressive, however, not worthy of a court storm.

Niagara storming the court is pretty ridiculous. If you want to be a big-time program, you've gotta act like it.
 
BU has not done anything worth storming the court for in the last two years. If we had beaten Michigan State students would have been on the court. And when we win the Valley again I am sure the court will get stormed.
 
They are playing better. But Majerus is getting less from his own recruits, and his 2 senior stars, Lisch and Liddell are carrying them.
I think they will fall off a little next year, but if Majerus stays around (and I am not convinced he will) in a couple years he could build them back to a contender in the A-10.
They lucked out a bit this year- of the top 5 teams in the A-10--Xavier, Dayton, Temple, Rhode Island, and St. Joseph's- the uneven schedule in the A-10 meant St. Louis only had to play Dayton twice, and the others only once.

I don't know if you call it storming the court, but every year on senior night the fans gather around the team and all of the srs. talk to and thank them...
