Storming the Court

Thanks Chico- yes, I was simply saying that most of those lower bowl seats don't come cheap. People who buy those have the right to do whatever they want with the tickets, and they are great fans whether they stand or sit.

Thats not right though by any means...

Just because you pay money out the you know what does NOT make you a great fan by any means...

If they pay the maintenance fees, they are great fans in my judgement.
That does more for the BU program than clapping and yelling does.

Have the ones who buy those tickets now stop buying them and you would be standing and cheering back in the Armory. Different fans have different ways of supporting the team and the University. Stop the nit-picking and enjoy the games how you see fit. But stand in my way when nothing exciting is going on during the game and I'll ask you to sit down, and I don't know a bigger BU fan than myself.

I had no problem with Northwestern doing it...the other two were ridiculous.

As a Northwestern alumnus I was mildly disappointed. It is true that in the historical context of the program it was a big win, but it struck me as showing a lack of confidence in how good this year's team is. Purdue is now ranked 15; three weeks ago Northwestern was in the top 25 and I think if they play they can legitimately be in that range. I don't see how you can think the win was more than a minor upset (as many of the fans apparently did) unless you think that Northwestern is not really an NCAA caliber team this year.

Just remember, every one of those fans in the lower bowl, whether they stand or not, pays a big maintenance fee to keep their season tickets. Those fees generate millions of dollars for the athletic department. Without that, Bradley would not be able to compete at the D1 level.

They do pay a lot of money for those seats and there are a lot of good fans in those seats however it seems like there have been more people in that area that continue to leave the game early before it has even been decided which makes no sense if you are really a fan of BU, many of those people are sitting in corporate seats and really don"t pay anything out of their own pocket which is probably why they don"t stay for the whole game.

While I agree that you pay for the tickets and there for can do what they want. I for one am a life long fan and would love to have those lower bowl seats. I would have no problem paying the ticket price and high maintenance fees, but somehow I keep getting turned down for those tickets. BUT, I appreciate every fan that BU has!

Hi Friend. I think you took DC post the wrong way. I took it as he was defending the ones who have seats in the lower bowl.

Your right Chico and thanks for pointing it out to me. DC, I apologize for taking it the wrong way:!: I still would like to see someone in every seat:!:
I need to go back and start this day over again:!: Gee's:oops: Come on Man:oops:

bigdaddy- I have heard there has been a very high demand the past couple years, but everything goes in cycles, and seats will open up. So keep in touch with the ticket people and let them know you want to move. I got moved this year after many years of requests.

The most amazing thing of this post is that we found out that wizard is one of the old and wise fans on this board. I always pictured him in his 30s! How many of you guys wonder how old people are on this board and when they became BU fans? I do all the time!

SaintLouBrave22 I understand your frustration on fan behavior and etiquette! We also need to understand some of the older fans and the time and money they have already invested in our institution and teams. Now on the corporate side of things it would be to the Universities interest to put those seats all in the same section (this way they can monitor those seats more closely and perhaps have a conversation with the owners) and also free up seats for those fans willing to give huge donations to the University. The basketball program should serve the interest of the University first and foremost and that is by driving donations and attracting a larger pool of students to the school. Imagine that!

wizard does indeed know everyone associated with the BU basketball program as far back as the late '40's...
I am not saying he is all that old, but he will soon be eligible for the gray-hair section...
wizard is one of the "good Bradley fans"....

I dont know if you can make a rule for every situation. Clemson beat UNC this year and they were both ranked, but Clemson had not beaten UNC in 10 years. I think that was justified.

I think Clemson was favored in the game... anytime you are the favorite in a game you should not be rushing the court...YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO WIN!

I am not questioning anything:-o BUT:rolleyes: You said the above and wizard said this (Most of us "white Haired-Cane totting" old folks) now does he have white/gray hair or not:doubt: In other words is he one of us or not:doubt::lol: JK  Who the hell cares, we now know he is one of the good old folks, that are great BU Fans:D

Guess you have to have enough students attending the game to storm the court.

I have never gotten the disdain for storming the court. Most of the time the students are the ones leading the charge storming the court.

We really have no student identity at home games so no real risk of storming the court. Probably would be pretty fun though. If it were me, I'd storm the court after every win over ISU, the Packers, the Minnesota Twins, or the Knicks. Just me. I get excited during rivalries.

We really need to do something to get the students in the games. Maybe if we finish above 4th we can storm the court for our best finish in a decade

I think many times we hear corporate seats and think they are huge corporations. Most are not in reality. They are small locally owned companies that either contribute money or provide products and/or services to BU.
I think when we see a few people leave early it may irk some in the upper bowl but when you look at the whole lower bowl it's a miniscule percentage.
I've had these seats for 22 years now and have gone to a very high percentage of games and usually only missed when my kids were playing HS and college ball.
And I would always blame the companies if someone isn't sitting in their seats.
You can give the tickets away but then the people don't show. It's not that company's fault.

Sorry for the rant but there have been many MVC coaches over the years jealous of the enthusiasm of the crowd and the passion the community has for the Braves. Many coaches have talked about their game day luncheons as well never having the attendance that ours do.
Now I will say I don't know about the last few years luncheons or not but I'll assume it's still the same way.

I apologize for the long post. Haven't been on for awhile and I had withdrawls:D

right on lefty, there shouldn't even be the slightest talk disparaging the crowds at BU.....I generally come home hoarse, and yet I suspect nobody even notices since everyone around me is also hollering...
(can you hear me from where you sit, lefty?)

..maybe only 2 other programs in the Valley can boast such fans and enthusiasm...

I hear you very well when you are yelling at the refs:D

Hey, I don't hold a candle to the "guy" down a bit to my left in the very front row who challenges some of the refs in such a manner, that the striped guys have asked that security intervene....
