Student Section

First of all I would like to say that I am a senior here at Bradley University and I have only missed one Bradley home game in the 4 years I have been here so far. I have never stood in the student section until this year, but I'm so glad I have started

I was just curious to get peoples opinions on the studetns section situation during the Bradley home games while students are on winter break. I just cant believe that at least 4 or 5 rows in the student section are saved, especially during a big game like Wichita St when a lot of students come back the weekend before classes start (classes start Wednesday).

IMO the student section has been amazing this year and at least double the size it has been in the past few years. I really do think the students make a huge difference during the game. But during the last 3 or 4 home games there has been older people with their little kids that have been sold tickets in the first couple rows along with fans of the visiting team. What is up with that???

Thank god civic center security doesnt care that 30 students didnt have seats for the front row that just stood up for the whole Wichita game.

Think anyone will do anything about this in the future considering the student section continues to grow every year and there are still at least 50 or so students that want our same seats every game even though we arent in session???

I just dont get it and im not too thrilled about it

Every effort needs to be made to accomodate all the students that
want to come to the games!

Amen. IMO It is their school and their team. we are merely guests.
I look at other schools were the students have prime seats rimming the court. I can NEVER imagine that happening at BU.
"Follow the Money"!

I was at Carver 45 minutes before tipoff the other night and sat a few rows from the front of the student section in first-come, first-serve fashion. While classes are in session, that's typically how the student section operates. About 3 minutes into the game, an usher asked us to leave because we were in seats belonging to a group of young basketball players and their parents. We ended up having to move to our "real seats" near the back of what is normally the student section.

I understand that BU and Carver make those tickets over Winter Break available for the general public, but at least part of that section needs to be reserved exclusively for students. The game the other night filled more than half of the normal student section. The areas to the left and behind the band were completely filled with students, and I believe an entire section in the upper bowl had residence hall staff members.

There needs to be some way to gauge how many students are willing/going to attend games over break and increase or decrease the student section accordingly for each game. Maybe they could do some sort of survey when they sell student season tickets or have a Winter Break ticket package for students.

I think another part of the problem is that a lot of students dont buy the season ticket package but buy individual game tickets. I know I didnt buy season tickets because of hockey, since i missed about half the games, but I do tickets for the games I can make and was at the siu and Wichita St. games over break and agree that the older people and especially the siu fans were out of place. I few older people were cool about standing and what not, but many were not. I had to move from my normal spot because people showed up and wanted their assinged seats, and where i found spots near them a guy told me to sit down, eventhough people where standing in front of me  . Thats when i moved for good. I believe it was DA's parents and little brother in front of me saturday night, and they were great, which everyone was like them. :D

BU has heard your pleas... adding 60 seats for students for the rest of the year.

Weds should be NUTS. 11,460 all in RED. Rally towels for all and shirts for the students.

ISU won't know what hit em......

I have to admit I was a little surprised one of those signs didn't get taken away the other night. Oh well. Good times!

Grassman, I agree it is the student's school and their team. But it is also our team. I don't think the Braves would be playing in a 11,400 seat arena if it wasn't for us non students. They wouldn't even be playing in the Fieldhouse. Armory? Maybe.

I love the students ESPECIALLY when they choose to come. Its the students team for 4 years...its been MY team for 24.

Agree 100%. It was my team when I was running around the Fieldhouse as a kid, it was my team while I was an undergrad, and it's my team now. The students coming back into the fold just makes this renaissance all the sweeter. As I have said all along, to the chagrine and disagreement of some, if you put a winner out there, the students will come. We're winning, and they're coming. It's no coincidence.

I think the students need to tell the ticket mgr. about this problem and try to work something out as they should occupy those seats when they can as they deserve them; this team is both the students and the communitys and we all need to work together as I believe we all want the same goal;to help Bradley win and make it a great atsmophere.

True it's the students' team for four years, but that's the important time to hook 'em and make them want to come back and pay the regular season ticket price later on ... just a thought ...

Here is a novel idea: Let students line the lower bowl and not the oldies!

Do that and you can kiss hundreds of thousands, heck millions, of dollars goodbye, including the Braves Scholarship Society. Don't think that's in anyone's best interests. The student support is fantastic, and getting better and stronger with every win. Just win baby, everything else will take care itself.

As a student it really galls me to think the university is willing to sell us out for a few extra bucks. That doesn't really strike me as the message you want to send to the people who might be donating the big money in the future.
