Students sue NCAA over Illiniwek ban

Yeah, I'm sure this will survive summary judgment....

These kids apparently have some money to throw away.... Hard to believe this even made the papers....
 
i absolutely hate illiniwek and the entire act and think it is incredibly racist now matter how much illini fans claim it is "respectful". however, i don't think it is the responsibility of the ncaa or any other governing body to step in and say what can and cannot be done in this case.

i'd like common sense to govern here and illinois can remove illiniwek when they no longer want to be laughed at and thought of as racists.
 
That is the problem with America today, everything is "racist". I think we have forgotten the true definition of the term. So, why then, is Fighting Irish not an offensive name? Or, Patriots, or Minutemen for that matter? I'm surprised PETA hasn't stepped in and called for banishment of animal mascots and imagry!

I agree that political correctness has no place in society, however, Rush makes me want to throw up! Yes, I am pretty much a conservative, but he makes me sick. I am also a Christian that was creeped out by Jerry Falwell. :lol: 8)
 
I have a difficult time differentiating one racist Indian image from another. Apparently the NCAA can. Illinois dancing Indian bad. Florida horse riding Indian good.

Charges were all dropped, but of course expect his opponents to revive this untruth time and time again.
