Summer leagues

Any word on which of our globetrotting alumni will be playing stateside in NBA summer leagues? I was wondering if Marcellus or Ruff would be giving it a shot..

For anyone who loves b-ball and has never been to a Pro-Am summer league game I highly recommend that you head out to one. They usually consist of local college players, top of the line HS players, few pros and occasionally a notable NBA player. The competition is fun and fast pace. When I lived in DC I use to go to the games and watch Iverson just blow by people. You knew he was going to be special when everyone around him looked like they were in slow-mo. Here in SF they have a nice league with some local flavor but it really gets good for their play-offs, where I saw Leon Powe just dominate a game once.

Here's a link to the SF summer league with roster and a list of past pros.

Here's a nice Youtube link to get a feel of the league. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71nHrLkfoZc

yes, the Rocky Top does draw pretty well....considering those guys are playing in unnumbered white undershirts!

But again...can there be any defense being played? If not then can this endeavor be all that good to develop the players?

The guy leading the league in scoring is Scotty Hopson at 37.1 ppg after 7 games. There are two other guys scoring over 33 ppg, and most teams have 6, 8, or even as many as 9 players averaging in double figures!
Guys who you've never heard of (Boo Jackson, Jon Primm, Jon Higgens, Damon Johnson) are averaging 20-27 ppg.
Even Josh Tabb, who has a LIFETIME scoring average in college of just 2.8 ppg, and has never even equalled his freshman avg. of 3.5 ppg since then...is averaging 22.3 ppg in the Rocky Top League!

ex-Volunteer, Chris Lofton, who really is a good player, and who is playing in Europe, made short appearances in two games for the Team Choice (so his stats don't qualify), and all he did was score 103 points in those two games, hitting 59% of his shots for an astounding scoring average of 51.5 ppg, although he has since quit playing since the league is barely more than a wide open layup drill.

Tornado, do you know which team Boogie Wright is on in the Bloomington summer league? He is not listed on any. We live in the area and would like to watch a game or two.

Here are league rosters, updated this moring (7/3/09)--

Lawrence Wright must have had a change of mind. In the initial release by MidstateHoops.com, they mentioned Wright as a participant. But now he is not listed on any of the teams' rosters.
Note some familiar names playing, including several former ISU players. The only former Bradley player appears to be Ryan Thornton, who redshirted a year at BU.--
