TCS' Shot

DogsRUs. There is hope for Will. He is a freshman. TCS and Collins--not so much. Collins was absolutely awful versus Ohio U. I just don't see how he or TCS figure into Bradley's plans next year. Guys very, very, rarely get good between their junior and senior seasons. They already have habits that will be really tough to change/break.
JUCO players generally do make significant improvements in their numbers from their junior to senior years...Franklin, Boogie, and Andrews come to mind...
However, with DC and TCS, I don't know how much of an improvement we can project for them...the good news, improvement is really the only direction they can go next year, as there isn't a way for them to be less of a factor than both of them have become this year.
But with most JUCOs that make huge strides in their senior seasons you seem to see some sort of progress from them as their first D-I season goes on...and with DC and TCS they have regressed, if anything, as the season has played out.
Anything is possible with a summer of hard work and dedication, but they both have a LONG, LONG way to go to get to the point where they can play significant roles next year...

That's my point. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, just realistic. Of the Boogie, Andrews, and ISU examples those guys were actually playing as juniors. Often times starters. Their production went up as did some playing time. It's just tough go to from basically never playing as a junior to a major contributor as a senior.

Put it this way, when looking at the rotation and where minutes/production will come from next year I'm not putting any weight into those guys.

Since everyone is giving their opinions on player improvement I might as well give one of mine;
Will Egolf : He has a ton of potential as he is 6-9 and has great athletic ability ; he needs to be tougher and mix it up more inside as he has the size and body to be able to be a star if he is willing to fight inside for rebounds and baskets.

You could also just copy what you said and put David Collins' name in front of it :)

Good point, and over the last two games both Will and DC have gotten themselves back into the rotation. The thing I'm wondering is why have Rashad's minutes declined? Against Ohio he only played 7 minutes and against Cincy it was a measley 5 minutes? I'm not necessarily questioning Coach Les' decision I'm just wondering why RA's minutes have declined. The last 5 games before Cincy he had averaged double digit minutes.

I agree with everything you have said. Here a couple thoughts (facts)
Why do you think BU was able to get a 7' (DC)? We are seeing probably seeing what other stayed away from! Not much skills,no heart and motivation! TCS is just what we are talking about today his shot and to much YMCA and JUCO play in him!
Not much hope here fore improvement for either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

What bothers me more about Will is his absolute lack of intensity. There was a loose ball top of the key against Ohio and Will was right there.....staring at the ball. Its like he was afraid or clueless as for what to do.

Sorry to be so rough but here's an idea....go after it like its gold. Dive...bang into somebody. Will brings no, none, nada bit of energy, hustle or, from his body language desire.

Why that clicks with some and not with others Ill never know.

Sammy is the classic example. He is an absolute bulldog. It was a problem for him early as he was a bit to fast but with time he has maintained his energy while playing under control.

You would think Will and Collins would SEE that first hand and take it up a notch.

Here's hoping they find that intensity over the summer.....BOTH WIll and Collins can still be contrbutors to this program.
Comparing Egolf and Maniscalco is an interesting exercise...

Athlete vs. basketball player. That is where they stand now.

Egolf - 6'9", runs the floor really well for his size, great leaper, but doesn't appear to have much creativity, intensity, or basketball instincts in his game at his point in his career. Looks like he spent his entire high school career coasting around and doing whatever he wanted to on a basketball court. Had success because he was always the best, biggest, and most athletic player on the court...but the level of competition he faced was unable to force him to have to make adjustments, develop post moves, or be creative in order to have success..."Catch ball, shoot over undersized players...catch ball, go by slow, undersized defenders, lay up...repeat as necessary".

Maniscalco - undersized, a step slower than most of the experienced D-I guards he is facing...but he is a tireless worker, intense and relentless on the court, and has an unbelievable amount of creativity within his game. Playing year in and year out in high school and AAU games against the likes of McCamey, Evan Turner, and other high D-I players has forced him to make adjustments in his game and to find ways to be creative in order to have success against these bigger, stronger, faster, and more talented players. He's a basketball player...pure and simple....and he's learned at an early age that you can't take plays off and coast through a basketball game if you want to be successful...His high school competition has taught him that if you relax for one second against a guy like McCamey or Turner, they've picked you clean and are running the other way and throwing down a monster dunk in your gym against you.

Hopefully this season has been one that Egolf can learn a lot from...failure is the best teacher sometimes. He's got a great combination of size and athleticism to work with...he just needs to further develop his basketball skills, instincts, and increase his intensity if he wants to succeed on the D-I level. Hopefully we will see that progression begin next year for him.

Egolf did play AAU, so he had some idea of better competition (not that AAU actually prepares you for D1)
To me it seems Will more borders on "stage fright" than "competition fright" He was not quite fully into the dunk competition during red/white (although attempting catch and release dunks after a full scrimmiage never works well in the red/white), but sounds like he is great in a closed practice.

Whatever this "bump" is for Will, I'm sure he'll work through it and get going!

Agreed. I'd like to see him get the opportunity to throw his weight around a little bit tonight. It's nice to see someone out muscle opposing bigs.

I am hoping that the staff lights a fire under Will as I think he has the potential to be a comparable player to a Grant Stout of N.Iowa; the problem with Collins is he will be a senior next season and has bad fundementals , I would like to see both of them go to big man camp this summer.
