Matt Roth......I'm sorry to start a new thread but I didn't want to detract from the other one's context.

I have heard conflicting reports.

Tell me about this kid.

Thanks....

What do you want to know? He is the real deal!

I have heard him compared to Aaron Zobrist, only with a bigger, more physical body. He is still growing and maturing, and is now 6'3". He is a little different than Jeremy Crouch, Roth's shooting touch includes the ability to shoot on the move, off screens, and with a quicker release. That's why so many major schools were at least interested in him. But he would be a major player at the midmajor level, and perhaps more of a role player at a major, IMO.

Sounds like the type of player good teams have, especially good MVC teams. CU seems to have 2 or 3 guys like him every year. BU hasn't really tried to recruit this kind of player since Zobrist, and it kind of baffles me (As Coach said, he's a different player than JC, which is why I am not including him). Great shooters who can come off of screens and knock down shots are invaluable, and often grow into more rounded players throughout their college careers.

i have seen roth play several times. don't think he will be an impact player because of his lack of quickness. he has trouble creating his own shot. with that being said he would be a welcome edition to bu. always room for a shooter and he can really shot the rock.

see him as a cross between adams and zobrist.

Don't forget Flipper Matt is still young he is only a Jr. He will get bigger, stronger, and faster.

I'm ok with bigger and stronger, but how does someone get faster? If he had that secret he wouldn't have to play basketball or go to college.

Matt's strength is his ability to shoot from long distance. A true bomber from 3pt range! I saw him almost singlehandedly lead Washington back from a double digit deficit against Lincoln in the supersectional two years ago (as a freshman).

Being from Washington, I saw both Zobrist and Adams play for Metamora in HS. DA was a terrific scorer in HS, but his shot was more of a line drive. Zobrist's shot had a higher trajectory, much like MR has on his long range shots.

Flipper keeps saying that Matt will not be an impact player because of his lack of quickness. I respectfully disagree! I think Matt will be an impact player because he can definitely shoot the lights out!! :)

Ask JC how to get faster he has gotten alot quicker since he came to BU.It is a lot of hard work with Ronnie Wright and getting in the best shape of your life.

I'm certain you can train to become faster. Do you think those sprint champions are born with those physiques? Also, the former Packer Don Beebe has made a post-NFL living running a speed training facility that many of the pros attend. If it didn't work, he'd have been out of that business long ago.

maybe i just saw him on some off nights. saw him last year at the fieldhouse and at the pekin holiday tournament. he is a good player and an excellent shooter.

hey i hope he comes to bradley and is the second coming of hersey hawkins. to me. andrew warren is going to more of a complete and impact player.

kids can get some quicker and faster and sometimes through experience they can react quicker. You can't change a JC into Ruffin but kids can change some. Zobrist was a pretty good example I thought after 4 years he came around screens very quick

As I've gotten older, I learned to use worm holes to take advantge of wrinkles in the time continuum - so I think I've gotten faster.

:? :? :?

I think the cigar smoke is starting to affect the quality of your posts.....

The more Peoria area kids we can get the better. Jim has done a great getting the locals to at least look at Bradley. Keep doing that and BU will get their share.

First off, I never referenced JC & 2nd all I was addressing was whether it is possible for someone to get faster. I'm pretty certain it's possible.

Tell me about this kid

I was at the Richwoods vs. Washington game at the field house 2 years ago.
Roth hit 3 3 pointers before Richwoods knew the game had actually started.
Richwoods put senior Jamar Smith of the freshman Roth. The bigger Smith started bodying up and elboeing on the Frosh.
What amazed me is, Roth just kept playing aggressively. He did not back down.
The kid has guts!
That impressed me!
