we do have the extra scholarship (or two) - maybe there's still a point guard out there?

Welp and just like that I wish we had that other combo guard I felt like we needed.

Have meta call another Serb.. petrovic from Illinois still available.

Still have a roster spot available!
And there are still guards available at the juco level, in the portal, and from overseas. The coaches are probably looking at what's available.

One other possible source to consider... the closure date for the transfer portal has passed., but there are a couple exceptions, such as for players on a team that has a coaching change. Michigan's coach just left, and although I don't see Bradley being a likely contender for any possible transfers from Michigan, there is a possibility Michigan might hire a successful mid-major coach, like they did with Dusty May. If that happens, there could be some new names emerge.

Excellent assessment Da Coach. There's still a chance for good news.

Obviously this is terrible news but Coach Wardle has said consistently that DR is going to be one of his point guards this season. I've watched more film on Payton than any other new player and he can absolutely run the point as well - he took the ball up more than anyone else for APB last year. Their offense had a ton of motion to it and once the halfcourt offense was established, he played on the perimeter as a ton as their best shooter. I see no reason that he and Dietrich couldn't get the offense rolling.

I have no idea who this extra player could be so that could change everything but with the roster constructed as it is, this gets more minutes for Grill and Seastrunk. We can easily forget that Jackson averaged 18+ PPG in high school so we shouldn't write him off as a guy who couldn't step in to a bigger role especially after a year of being around the program under his belt.
