The Big East Worshipers-where are you?

I have never seen a conference worshiped by all the experts as is the Big East. All season long the so-called experts went on and on about the god-like ability of The Big East teams and how great they were. No other conference could come close to the talent in The Big East. Even this morning on ESPN all I heard were excuses for The Big East poor showings. I have really lost confidence in the big time expert opinions. I think that for the most part they are completely stuck on the sound of the names of some of these big schools with no regard to parity and superior play coming from other conferences as well. So far, The Big East is 1 and 3 (and barely won the one game), and that does not count their losses in the NIT ( Connecticut, for example ). The so-called experts may want to change the name of The Big East to The Big Dud! Please...no more hero worship, Vitale, Phelps, etc.

This is why college basketball is one of the greatest sporting events , you get a once in a life time chance at beating a team that is supposedly superior to you and more than likely will not play you during the regular season, the so called mid major teams prove themselves once again that they can compete in this tournament.

I am not sure I would even say "more than likely not" there....

I am certain...Georgetown would NEVER play Ohio on a neutral floor...EVER...

Yes, the mids proved they can play with anyone on any given day...

They also proved the reason why the BCS schools will not come out and play them on the road ---- FEAR

UNI wins
Lehigh hangs with Kansas for 30
Butler wins
Murray St wins
Old Dominion wins
Sam Houston St hangs with Baylor for 37
Saint Mary's wins
Robert Morris hangs with Nova for 44 1/2 and probably should have won if not for some questionable officiating

I think it is great that mid-majors got to beat up on some of the power conferences this tournament. Does it change my opinion of the Big East? Not really. Is it a mythical conference created by gods to house the greatest basketball ever? also no. But the fact remains, it is a tough conference - many seasons, one of the toughest, if not the toughest. I agree that often times it gets hyped up pretty big, but at the same time, there is a good amount of great basketball played there. At the end of the day people get beat, teams play amazing, teams play terrible, etc. etc. in the case of Ohio, they played a fantastic game, but if i had to bet my fortune on a best of 7 series, i'd still take Georgetown today after their loss yesterday. That is the beauty of the tournament, thats why its so great - all you have to be able to do is play with a team better than you once, and you advance, they go home.

Exactly. You have to keep it in perspective.

13 of the 16 Big East teams are playing in the post-season!!!
Thus far those 13 teams have gone 6-7....with most of those teams being give really nice seeding or home games in the other tourneys!
(4 of the 5 teams in the NIT, etc... had home games,
and 5 of the 8 teams in the NCAA had a top-3 seed,
and only ONE Big East team had to play a seed higher than they were given!)

The talking heads on ESPN radio were saying yesterday that, seriously, the Big East really wasn't as good as their reputation this year. Look at how much talent teams lost from last year, the late season injuries this year, too much beating up on each other during the season, they have to play too many conference games vs outside the conference etc etc. Excuse after excuse.

These are the same people who all season long were telling us how good the Big East was this year.:lol::lol:

Unfortunately that seems to be par for the course...
