The Cardinals...

Interesting debate here.. I haven't been paying attention to this thread until today because I am not a Cardinals fan. I do appreciate what Pujols has done and the statistics he is compiling. If Pujols escapes being implicated with steroids, then he is the best player of this generation.

I'll add a couple of things.

The next couple of years will be very interesting for the Cardinals. I think that the signing of Pujols will put additional strains on the organization as being a mid-market team, I can't see how they will have the resources to sign quality free agents. The Cardinals will have to rely more on their farm system for their talent provided that Pujols gets the contract that he deserves. The Cardinals have done well in the past with their minor league system, but the margin of error will diminish.

Yeah. I believe the cards have one of the top management regimes as they are able to compete every year being 11th-15th in the pay scale rankings.

Their AA and AAA teams made their respective finals last year so they do have solid players developing. Also their draft this year was swell!

Everything that I read about the Cardinals' draft was extremely positive! I wish that I could say that for one of my favorite teams! :oops:
 
Sox first round pick was possibility the best pitcher taken. He will be in their rotation within 2 years.
