Regarding Wayne McClain's name being mentioned for a couple jobs (ISU and NIU). At the bottom of this article by John Supinie he says McClain has not gotten any calls.

Assistant coach Wayne McClain hadn't received any calls despite his name being mentioned as a possible candidate with openings at Illinois State and Northern Illinois, he said Friday.

Assistant coach Jay Price's name was mentioned in connection with the opening at Bowling Green.

Does anyone know if WM is a serious candidate for any of the jobs open?

Michigan State assistant coach Jim Boylen confirmed he is going Monday for a face to face interview at Utah and might be seen as the leading candidate for the job vacated when Ray Giacoletti was fired.

Also on Monday, Rod Barnes (Ex-Ole Miss coach) will be named the new head coach at Georgia State.

Is this assuming Tubby's let go, because UK's one of the top 3-4 coaching position's in College Basketball, and Michigan's not. I also can't see Bruce Pearl leaving Tennessee nor would he be welcomed by the Big Ten, he burnt a lot of bridges in the Big Ten, as I'm sure most Illinois fans here can attest.

Jeff Ruland, head coach at Iona, is said to be on his way out after a 2-28 season. He is reportedly negotiating a buyout of his remaining two years.
Just one year before, Iona had a great season, 23-7, they won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the postseason tourney, and made an NCAA appearance.
They also had quality wins on the road at Iowa State and Fresno State.
Ruland's career record is 139-135.

Utah is interviewing Michigan State assistant Jim Boylan today, and has received permission to interview Winthrop head coach Gregg Marshall.

Colorado is hotly pursuing Air Force head coach Jeff Bzdelik even though Air Force is still playing in the NIT.
Air Force's AD says:

A push is on to get Mike Montgomery, ex-Stanford and NBA coach to come to Long Beach State (Cal State-LB).
Montgomery is a Long Beach alum and native, but will he hold out for a better offer?

Alright, I admit I'm no expert at what colleges are looking for,but it seems to me Altman would be a much hotter commodity, except maybe because he's older than Lowery. Other than age though I feel Altman has shown much more as a coach than Clo.
 
There is some growing speculation that Chicago State might seek to hire a local Chicago HS or juco coach to head up their D-I basketball program.
Some of the names that come up are pretty impressive and include Loren Jackson of Boys to Men.
But as usual they're moving rather slow.
