The Loss of Dodie

tornado

New member
I heard someone say that losing Dodie wasn't so bad because he wasn't a starter...
let me go on record saying how loony that is...
I think losing Dodie is as big as the loss of any single player..the rest of the guys have their work cut out for them.
Dodie was like a coach on the floor and his talent doesn't go unnoticed either.

I offer a few simple factual examples...

--would we have won last Sunday had it not been for Dodie?
--Dodie's solid defenisve play against various opponents' best player might have gone unnoticed by some but helped win several games
--Dodie is a straight A student....more important that you think!
--Dodie was MVC NOY leading BU in scoring in their first two games last year
--Dodie has great games off the bench in the CIT vs. Oakland and Pacific - we don't win either without Dodie

DD does all the little things...he's not a superstar but he is an important player for BU..
I would be surprised if we can finish as high in the Valley without Dodie as were many's expectations before...

here we go again.

laying the foundation for another excuse-ridden season filled with would'ves, could'ves, and should'ves...

Nice timing! I agree that Dodie is a huge loss on the court for this Bradley team.

In fact, I included the following statement as part of my MVC Power Poll response to SaintLouBrave this morning....

Switched illinois state and Bradley only because of the injury to DD, who happened to be our best 3-point shooter last season and it looks like we'll need all of those we can get!

I said the same thing when JL made this twitter post a few weeks ago.'

The strength of the "Valley" will be very good..new players/transfers/those returning from injury will decide a lot about the outcome!

Is he preparing us for ANOTHER mid-pack finish?

Murph I hate that avatar of yours! LOL

OK - DD injury will hurt us if no one takes up his defensive intensity and his leadership. Is this as painful as AW going down? No because we have other who can step into his role but you cannot substitute Sr. knowledge that he brought to the table.

And his three-point shooting!

Ok, first of all...Dodie is a good player don't get me wrong and the team will miss him,

HOWEVER

IF this team can not find a way to win without 1 player no matter how good, then its fully on the coaching staff for once again not being able to figure out a proper gameplan without an individual and once again a poor excuse for a mediocre year...

Also, must I say once again that we wouldn't be living by the 3 and dying by the 3 IF the coach instituted the "bigs must touch the ball once" rule every time down the floor....closely related to the 5 pass rule instituted by Weber of IL.

This team could be a mid level team who shoots 25-30 3's a game

OR

This team could be an upper level team who shoots a few less than that, but also gets the ball inside for some easy points while opening up the perimeter for more open shots.

Its all in how the staff reacts to the situations...

As of now, they're acting as if Dodie was the #1 star AND they're acting as though none of the bigs have any business being out on the floor...

Perception becomes reality and poof there's that 6th place finish.
