The Valley next year

I am not prone to looking this far ahead, but here is an article by Bob Lutz of the Wichita Eagle who ponders what the MVC will look like next year. There will be a much larger number of graduations of top players this year than usual.

http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/16684668.htm

Here is how he sees the MVC next year based on who teams have returning. He picks Bradley 8th and ISU 3rd. When will these guys learn?--

1. Southern Illinois (significant losses in Tatum and Young)
2. Missouri State (significant losses in Ahearn and Chaney)
3. Illinois State (Dilligard is gone, but that's it)
4. Creighton (despite losses of Funk, Tolliver and Nick Porter, you have to have faith)
5. Wichita State (guards aplenty, who plays up front?)
6. Indiana State (almost everyone will be back)
7. Northern Iowa (Eric Coleman will have to carry the load)
8. Bradley (guards Jeremy Crouch and Daniel Ruffin return)
9. Drake (two leading scorers will be gone)
10. Evansville (top three scorers graduate).

Can't believe he is picking Bradley so low. 2 of the top 3 scorers return. Maybe he just doesn't know much about the players teams have coming in next season. He hasn't done his homework if he isn't considering guys like Jeremy Fears, DeAaron Williams, Ray Brown, and the incoming recruits.

Appreciate the link, but this guy's opinion is rubbish. Last I heard "you have to have faith" is not a good reason to pick a team to finish 4th.

This guy is WHACKO! If Williams,( actually attends classes,) and Buycks are here next year. You are probably looking at our first Mo Valley Championship in a long time.
Without them it is still a top 3 team!

Absolute Joke

Absolute Joke

This guy either:

1) Knows absolutely nothing about The Valley, or
2) Is an ISU graduate

What a joke!

All this thread is, is just another one we're going to be able to pull up next year and laugh at. Clearly this guy is a moron.

This guy obviously knows nothing about the Valley, or what BU has returning or coming in. He fails to mention that major contributors Andrew Warren and Matt Salley return with DR and JC, and that we're bringing in an all-conference guard in Jeremy Fears. BU will contend for the MVC title next year. 8th place? I'm tempted to call the guy and ask him how he came up with that. Most of the folks on ValleyTalk think BU will be a contender next year. Unreal.

sheesh, on a day which such bad weather, i really needed a good laugh. You have to have faith?? I have to agree, this guy has done absolutely no research

This will be an unusual season when lots of the top teams lose key players.

In 2006-2007, 38 of 50 starters returned, but in 2007-2008 it will likely only be around 25-30, as every team loses at least a couple key starters.

Bradley loses Franklin, Adams, Tauai, Andrews.
SIU loses Tatum, Young.
Creighton loses starters Funk, Tolliver, Porter.
MSU loses statrers Ahearn, Bilyeu, Chaney,
UNI loses starters McKowen & Stout.
Evansville loses starters Webster, Strickland, Anslinger, and key reserve Stahlberg.
Drake loses four starters Stewart, Grant, Calvin, Keita.
Indiana State may actually lose the least with only Wurtz graduating.
Wichita loses starters Martin, Bradley, Wilson.
ISU loses Carlwell, Dilligard, Fortes.

And yet BU, who lost 80% of its scoring from last year and still will finish in the top 4, is picked 8th by this idiot while returning the league's top point guard and top 3 point shooter, and both of whom will be among the league's returning scorers? This is beyond comical.

Question???

Question???

Is Daniel Ruffin for sure coming back next year?? I know he was Prop 48, but is he on schedule to graduate by August??

I wasn't sure. He's a great PG and underrated in my opinion.

The answer is yes. He will graduate in May and get his 4th year back.

Why does everyone get so worked up about one guys report.....we all know Bradleyfans and the fine posters are the ultimate authority on all things BU.

I would worry more if one of US gave that report.

I believe Bradley has put together one of their better classes of incoming recruits and will contend for the championship of the valley the next 4 seasons.

we really have 3 out of our 4 starters back for next year.... Tauai doesnt really count for much of anything.... so 75% of our starters isnt a bad deal

Currently, the frontline for BU next year stands at Salley, Singh, and two freshmen.

That will be probably be corrected and if not we still have some very athletic 6"4" to 6'6."'s That can get higher than a lot of unathletic 6'10"'s.
I think one of those "freshman" will have an immediate impact.
