Our last sellout was in '05 against you guys but we were winning games that year so our fans showed up  .

That was your 1st sellout in 7 years leading up to that game and your last since. (1 sellout in 9 years!)

Was that the last time Redbirds fans stormed the court?

BBFan at the other board says Redbirds fans don't care about beating Bradley so bad .... enough to storm the court.

I think he is wrong.

And when ISU beats Bradley again - which will happen sometime I am sure (maybe this coming season) - fans will storm the court AGAIN as if they have just won the National Championship.

I duno if court-storming is a good judge because here at good ol' BU thanks to KK we are not allowed to storm the court. With that said I managed a one-man court-storming after we beat SIU at the buzzer this year. :)

If that's true that's pretty weak. Tell Kavanaugh to take the corn cob out of his a** and let the kids have a little fun. Kudos to you for storming. Isn't that part of the landscape and excitement of college hoops? Doesn't just about everyone do that after a big home win against a huge rival? Am I missing something here?

You don't have to tell me, I completely agree but it's vertually impossible to do because a few minutes before the final whistle security gathers and then surrounds the court right at the final buzzer. I don't see it changing, but hopefully we can arrange something when we beat Michigan State this upcoming season. I wish the policy would change because we've had a few wins since I've been a student here that were definately court-rushing worthy. If worse comes to worse I guess we'll just have to wait 'til next March in St. Louis. :)

Young 18-22 year old kids excited and happy that their team beat their biggest rival for the first time in a few years. If they storm the court, who cares? Nothing wrong with that in my opinon. So you can only storm the court when you beat a ranked team or when you clinch the Valley title? What's your criteria for storming the court? When was the last time BU stormed the court? I remember them doing it in '96 on a Saturday afternoon against ISU because I was there. Was that OK? have they done it since?

Better yet, why do you care?

DC, I don't like being bs'd with an air of arrogance.

Illini fans are notorious for it.

BBFan has tried it with me from time to time.

He has tried to discard the rivalry as a mildly strong matchup of teams relativily close to one another geographically. He has said ISU does not care what goes on at Bradley and how they are doing and/or what they are doing. ISU cares no more about beating Bradley than they do any other opponent.

THAT is Bee-Loney!

I was flaming on the other board about ISU fans storming the court if and when they beat BU. BBFan got tired of hearing it and basically claimed it wouldn't happen because ISU doesn't care that much about beating BU.

I don't care when fans storm courts, really - if everything is civil and players are kept safe.

I care when my team gets stormed against to the point it says something about my team.

BUT DON'T Bee-Esss me and tell me it won't happen cause your team doesn't care one way or the other about beating my team.

So do I have a criteria? Hey - I would storm the court if I could after every win. And I would do the "funky-chicken/in-your-face" dance after beating ISU. Because winning EVERY game means a lot to me... and it ALWAYS means something to beat ISU - period!

So for an ISU fan to look down his nose at me like ISU is too big to storm the court... give me a stinkin break...

BBFan! You out there?

Here's the last time ISU won THEIR National Championship over a team finishing 13-15:

NORMAL, Ill. _ They don't call it "The War on I-74" anymore, but Saturday's Bradley-Illinois State game was no less intense than it has been for 100 years.

Buoyed by the first sellout in seven years at Redbird Arena, ISU solidified its third-place standing in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 69-62 victory over the Braves.

Senior guards Trey Guidry and Vince Greene led the Redbirds with 24 and 20 points respectively. Many of the 10,200 stormed the court after time ran out to celebrate a victory in what many call the best rivalry...

I suggest you direct this anger to bballfan. I truthfully have no idea who that is. I think the Bradley game is huge. I can only speak for myself.

I am not BS'ing you nor am I arrogant. You either have me confused with someone else or you are barking up the wrong tree. wow.

Sorry DC to throw that at you - it wasn't meant to be directly at you. ;) Yea - It was meant for BBFan... and his league of friends (cause he told me he and other ISU fans were tired of my "ISU fans will storm the court blah-blah-blah").

So I guess we will see...

Good luck to your Redbirds this season (except for a few possible games, ;) ).

Like I mentioned before, our fans are FAMOUSLY fair weather. When we win, they show up. When we struggle (which has been the norm the last 6-7 years), our fans bail. So if/when we get a big win when the fans are there it is a big deal.

When we beat you guys at the sellout in '05, it was a big deal because that win put us at 16-6 at that point (before a MAJOR collapse that left us with a 17-13 final record  ), but yea that win and the sellout crowd gave our fans something to celebrate and a lot of our (rather un-sober) students rushed the court. So what? Kids letting off steam...oh well. I cant say I always support rushing the court in the regular season but it does happen, especially (and obviously) after a big win. So what?

As for what BUBraves06 said re: security, it's tough to rush the court, so thats part of why students do it---because they "arent supposed to", and security will often gather in front of the student section to try and prevent rushing the floor. Hell, this year over Xmas break we beat UNI in OT at home during a big snowstorm in front of a putrid crowd of less than 4K. There was maybe 10 students there and security thought we were gonna try to from rush the floor...it was hilarious

BU security isn't worried about STUDENTS rushing the court. What concerns them is the regualr fanbase following their lead and scuffing up the court with all those walkers... :-o

Here's some news out of...Indiana.

...Indiana may not have one of its fine incoming recruits available next year.
Their best incoming big man, Eli Holman, is still having trouble qualifying. Of course, look for the NCAA Clearinghouse to help as much as they can since it's a BCS school, but here's what Sampson told an inside source:
"Eli Holman was going to have a tough time qualifying and he is still not there according to comments from Coach Sampson .... There have been whispers about prep school but we have not heard anything definitive for Plan B if it comes to that."

It's slow....so just a little news from our neighboring state, since i looks like two MVC teams will be playing Indiana this season.......
High school basketball in Indiana had their high school All Star game a couple nights ago, and there is a premium report by one of the Indiana guys saying that Holman has failed again in his effort to pass the ACT. Apparantly he stillhas one chance, and one chance only to pass, as he re-took the test again this past week.

Another top Indiana recruit, Eshaunte Jones out of Ft. Wayne North HS - a Top 100 nationally has reclassified as Class of 2010 and is planning to go to a prep school next year (Hargrave) in an effort to "get his grades up" and be able to qualify. Apparently the teachers in Ft. Wayne aren't letting him slide by because he's a basketball player. Too bad Boys to Men is out of business.

Another interesting report, Top rated Class of 2010 prospect -DeShaun Thomas - also from Ft. Wayne, just committed then backed off his committment to Ohio State. DeShaun was going to move and transfer to another high school, possibly a prep school or a bigger one in Indianapolis, but.........
suddenly his grandmother...(his legal guardian) ....gets offered a nice job at Bishop Luers High School in Ft. Wayne (a relatively small private, Catholic school) and instantly DeShaun is happy again and staying at Luers.
This family has learned the tricks very well and very early....so look for granny to start getting job offers from Thad Matta and Kelvin Sampson!!

Two more notes from the IU inside report....
AJ Ratliff - a senior guard and one of their top returning scorers, has badly refractured his wrist and undergone surgery.

and the discussion about DeShaun Thomas and the recruiting battle that will be seen in the next couple years between Thad Matta and Kelvin Sampson degenerates into a multipage tirade by the Hoosier fans as to how crooked, dirty, and cheating the Ohio State program is....and while they're at it, they rail on Kenticky and numerous other programs....

I wonder if those dolts realize their head coach is just coming off sanctions for major violations.........huh?
