Tom Izzo is basketball's hottest commodity

Can never figure why izzo would want to leave mich st. It's a program he built pretty much on his own and which is on pretty equal footing with any program there is. I guess it's maybe a quarter step below unc duke or Kansas. But, I always figure the ultimate ego trip is to turn a program into something greater than it was.

I do not believe he would take that job and leave Michigan St. However, in the end, money does have a lot of pull for some people.

Love Izzo, Iron Mountain boy!!! But I am pretty sure that Jud Heathcote may have had something to do with building up the MSU program. He did have a National Championship.
I agree that Izzo has built from the solid foundation that Heathcote started.

6 Final Fours in the last 12 years is pretty darn good. Tell me, how many did old Jud have?

Heathcote was good. Just think that izzo should be credited for turning msu into a consistent top 5 kind of program.

or Kansas or Duke! This is Duke's 1st Final 4 since 2004!

Judd to his credit did leave Izzo a pretty solid foundation to build one of the top programs around. I'd put MSU as the top program this decade!

Izzo leaving, I'd be shocked because he seems extremely happy.

I highly doubt that Izzo would leave. First of all he is one of the most underrated coaches in college basketball period. He has MSU at the same level as Kansas, Duke, UNC, etc. Plus great facilities, a great location close to all the midwest and eastern talent. Considering the success he has had at MSU over the past decade I highly doubt he would leave now, when he has a chance almost every year to win another championship. His current roster only has one senior on it, Raymor Morgan, who undoubtedly is a large part of his team. However, with the returning talen he has he could have a team as good or better than this years team next year. I doubt he would give that up to go and rebuild an Oregon program.

Credit for maintaining that level of success for so long goes to the captain of the ship.

Even though he is a formidable Big Ten foe, I'd send a personal $5 check to East Lansing, if it would influence his decision to stay.

I can't put my finger on it; he's just a special coach.

I wouldn't leave if I were Izzo, I agree that if I built a program it would be a source of pride for me. I don't think he would leave, of course with the other thread about Bill Self being on the hot seat, maybe he will go to Kansas. They could use some help learning how not to suffer early round exits.

I am not saying that Izzo is not a great coach. Just stating that he didn't exactly take over a program with no history or one that was scraping the bottom of the barrel. IMO, Izzo is the best college coach out there right now.

I'm sorry bigdaddy. I know my post sounded confrontational but it was not meant to be. I see what you were saying. :)

This sort of dovetail's into the other thread, but it applies more here than there, so Ill post here. Butler and Michigan State are finishing off the specifics for a home-and-home starting next year at Hinkle (to be shown on CBS). I suppose it is possible, but Tom Izzo is still operating like he fully intends to be at Michigan State indefinitely.

This is a year-old thread that is being renewed --
gotta wonder if Tom Izzo has any regrets for not taking the $$ & running

So I guess that means he has no chance of coaching at Bradley. ;)

No, he has a perfect chance of coaching at Bradley. We would not turn down Izzo if he made an offer.
On the other hand, Bradley has no chance of pulling Izzo away. ...
