Too Many Jucos?

Just one year ago when BU had landed Dodie Dunson, Chris Roberts, and Taylor Brown,
and already had David Collins & Theron Wilson (and had lost TCS & Rashad Austin), the proclamation was made........

Too many jucos for Bradley

now that consistently THREE of our leading scorers are Taylor Brown, Chris Roberts, and Dodie Dunson
...does anyone think maybe we should leave these decisions to those in charge of recruiting?

This year's team will have three jucos out of 13 scholarship players. It sounds like the right number. Taylor Brown is a non traditional juco since he played zero games at the juco level and had 4 years of eligibility at Bradley.

Viewing the incoming recruiting class, it looks like the coaching staff made some adjustments.

the only two incoming recruits for future years are also jucos.....(Wilkins & Harris), so it doesn't appear they've made too many adjustments.

Next year, there will be two jucos out of the 11 scholarship players so far on the roster. One that never played a game at the juco level and one that tried to get into BU directly, but was denied by the NCAA.

Once again, it looks like the coaching staff made an adjustment.

For the record, Dave mentions Taylor Brown as an incoming recruit in his article from last year, but he does not include him in the list of junior college players, and I wouldn't either. He came in as a freshman.

I certainly don't think of TB as a juco player. Maybe we should start referring to them as 2-year players and 4-year players. As for the players coming in 2010 and 2011, they haven't signed anything and aren't on campus yet, so I find it hard to add them to the count at this point.

Don't forget our three-year players! ;)

All I know is that I am thrilled we have Taylor Brown. Call him what you like, I think I will call him "the man"!!!! This guy is going to be in the starting lineup for the next three years.

Dunson and Roberts are great additions to this team, I wish we had them for 4 years because they are not only good basketball players but great individuals as well, there is no doubt the program is headed in the right direction as we have a lot of very good basketball players on this years team plus we have good ones coming , the future looks bright and it will be fun watching Bradley play. The only thing we need to avoid is serious injuries.

You hit the nail on the head. This program is heading in the right direction on two fronts. JL is recruiting not just great talent but players that off the court can make us proud. Personally, I'd rather have great citizens first then just great ball players. Having both is just icing on the cake!
