This is another example that "package deals" pay off for college basketball programs.

Five-star prospect Patrick Baldwin Jr. chooses Milwaukee over Duke, Georgetown

Patrick Baldwin is a highly skilled 5-star forward from Hamilton HS in Milwaukee. He is rated among the top 5 recruits nationally by every recruiting service, and some have him as the #1 overall recruit in the class of 2021. He was offered by all the top schools, including Duke, UCLA, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, USC, Illinois, and many of the SEC, Big East and Big Ten schools.

Duke was favored to land him, but he announced his choice today, and he will attend Wisconsin-Milwaukee, one of the worst teams in the Horizon League. Milwaukee replaced Rob Jeter as head coach with Pat Baldwin (the father of Patrick Baldwin) in 2017. They have not had a winning season yet under Baldwin-

Milwaukee finished 6th, 9th (last place), 8th, and 8th in Baldwin's 4 seasons as head coach at Milwaukee. Then 5 of their players, including probably their best player Te'jon Lucas, entered the transfer portal with the intent to transfer. And his 2021 recruiting class was looking extremely weak until today. Most coaches would have been fired with terrible records like that, but Milwaukee kept Baldwin, hoping they had a chance in the Patrick Baldwin sweepstakes, and today it paid off. The losing Milwaukee Panthers program became immediate favorites to win the Horizon in 2021-22, and Patrick's commitment to Milwaukee today probably saved his dad's job.
It might be short lived, as many experts believe Baldwin is close to being NBA-ready.

I wonder if it is too late for the MVC to expand this off-season by adding a couple new members? Maybe Milwaukee?
I'd like to see this kid playing in the MVC!
