Transfers & Grad Transfers

The list of teams interested in Evansville's Ryan Taylor grows-
https://twitter.com/GoodmanESPN/status/975161409691701248

Evansville grad transfer Ryan Taylor has heard from Butler, Northwestern, Vandy, South Carolina, Ohio St, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Illinois, Georgetown, Creighton, Minnesota, BC, Indiana, UCLA, Arizona, Wake, Miami, Purdue, Baylor, Maryland & Missouri, source told ESPN.

Ryan Taylor looks like he wants a graduate degree from Northwestern University...
he commits to Chris Collins & the Northwestern Wildcats - should get a lot of instant playing time, as
they lose 3 of their top 5 players & Taylor will try to fill the shoes of Lindsey- their top scorer & top 3-pt shooter

Illinois grad transfer Michael Finke, who actually was in communication with Bradley in the course of his search for a new school, has now cut his list to Stanford, Nevada, Grand Canyon, Penn St, and Vanderbilt.

I think Finke is a good player, but if he wants to start and be up for all conference consideration he should be looking at more schools like Grand Canyon. He disappeared often for the Illini. That being said I am sure he ends up at Grand Canyon with his brother.

One time Bradley recruit (under Geno Ford) Larry Austin, Jr. is now a redshirt junior at Vanderbilt. He is leaving and looking to transfer as a grad transfer. He will have 1 season left and he is eligible immediately.
He was originally a heralded recruit from Springfield Lanphier HS. He originally committed to Tennessee. A few months later, he decommitted and then committed to Xavier. He spent 2 seasons at Xavier, never played much and he contributed very little there. He transferred to Vanderbilt, and played this last season there, but he again saw only a deep reserve role.

Career stats-

Larry Austin is reportedly taking an official visit to Central Michigan this weekend. Others schools said to be involved: Drake, Ohio State, St. Louis, Towson, Vermont, and UAB.

more likely he didn't think he was getting the playing time, the shooting & scoring opportunity and the press coverage that he thought he deserved -
maybe he saw how great Charles Matthews did leaving Kentucky under the same circumstances then going to the Final Four as a key piece at Michigan...

Another grad-transfer that was a Bradley recruit at one time just became available. Prentiss Nixon, who just completed his redshirt-junior year at Colorado State is leaving and looking to transfer to play his final year of eligibility-
https://twitter.com/AyeYooPrentiss_/status/982385088695492609

Previous Bradley coach Geno Ford recruited Nixon out of suburban Chicago Bolingbhrook HS. He reportedly made an unofficial visit to Bradley in July, 2013, and later made an official visit in the first week of September, 2013, but eventually committed to Colorado State-
www.bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=22903

He averaged 16.1 ppg this past season at CSU-

ISU making a big push for transfer Prentiss Nixon..
but they don't have a scholarship open...

Colorado State grad transfer Prentiss Nixon says his final 4 list includes Iowa State, Illinois State, Loyola, and SMU.

The two biggest names transferring out of the MVC have settled...

Evansville's Ryan Taylor lands at Northwestern
Missouri State's Reggie Scurry lands at Middle Tennessee
..still a lot of MVC kids who have not fond a place yet, including Evansville's Dru Smith, ISU's Daouda N'Diaye and Bradley's two guys.

also Wisconsin's Andy Van Vliet lands at William & Mary

San Jose State transfer Jaycee Hillsman tells me he will visit Illinois State this weekend-
https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/986001845096275970

Hillsman is a 6'6" 235 pound guard/forward who is originally from Champaign, Illinois. He just finished his junior year, and is not reported to be a grad-transfer. So he would have to sit out a year, and have only 1 year of eligibility in 2019-20.

Drake lands a very late 2017 addition...
They have found a rising juco sophomore that is a qualifier so he can transfer from State Fair Community College to Drake and be eligible right away..
Colton Kolowski, a 6-5 guard, will have 3 years of eligibility

Kolowski was originally from Yorkville HS where he played his first two years of high school ball then he transferred to Joliet (IL) Catholic for his junior & senior seasons.
He also but spent a year of postgrad at Moravian Prep (North Carolina) before playing last year at State Fair CC (Sedalia, MO).
At State Fair CC He only played 8 games due to a little issue early in the season ** but in 8 games he averaged 7.3 ppg & 2.3 rpg -SFCC went 1-7 in those 8 games...

he spent a year at juco, then went to Drake last year but never played - now he's leaving Drake and going BACK to junior college

Former Evansville Aces guard Jaiveon Eaves, who was at John A. Logan juco - has verbaled to Murray State...
..there had been some remote hope by Aces fans that he might be lured back by the opportunity for a ton of playing time..

Here is a transfer with a Bradley connection-
6'3" sophomore guard Carlos Johnson is leaving University of Washington and transferring.
https://twitter.com/jeffborzello/status/978739780199636992

He was recruited by Brian Wardle, and was offered a Bradley scholarship back in May, 2015, just after Wardle was named head coach at Bradley
http://verbalcommits.com/players/carlos-johnson

Old Bradley thread-
www.bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25358

He played a lot as a freshman and even started a few games and averaged 5.9 ppg & 3.0 rpg. But it appears he might have been recruited over by new head coach Mike Hopkins. As a result, he only played in 17 games this season as a sophomore and averaged 3.8ppg & 1.4 rpg.

Ftr, I don't see Bradley being interested, as their needs are different at this time.
Carlos Johnson lands at Grand Canyon University

Larry Austin, Jr. has committed to Central Michigan
CMU also got a commitment from Indian Hills juco forward Robert Montgomery (6.2 ppg/4.8 rpg)

Wichita State's Austin Reaves is leaving and will transfer. He is a 6'5" sophomore who is an outstanding 3-point shooter. He has 2 years of eligibility left. He was projected to be a starter for Wichita State next year with so many key players leaving such as Landry Shamet, Connor Frankamp, Zach Brown, C.J. Keyser, Rashard Kelly, Darryl Willis, and Shaq Morris, -

more players bailing on Gregg Marshall and getting out now because they see a huge likelihood that Wichita may be a bottom dweller next year! They only have one starter returning now..

Just speculation, but must be a tremendous motivation for Reeves to be leaving...after all, Wichita took him in as a walk-on then gave him a scholarship and elevated him to a starter!!
So much for loyalty!!
He's a 6-5 below-the-rim sophomore shooting guard who averages 8 ppg but shoots 42.5% from the arc....
he was 5th on the team in minutes played, 7th in rebounding, 6th in scoring, 4th in assists

I think the fact that Wichita signed players for next year that will likely move past him in playing time and the prospect that the Shockers might have a very down year were motivation enough to sit out a year and play somewhere else
