Twas The Night Before The BU Michigan Game

AZ BU Fan

With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore,

Twas the night before the Michigan game, to be played in our Coliseum.
And loyal BU fans were estatic, hoping lots of fans will finally come to see em.
The basketballs were in their racks, stored with care.
Waiting for the BU team to shoot them through the air.

The players were nestled all snug in their beds.
While visions of upsetting the Wolverines danced in their heads.
And Coach Ford with his clipboard, met with Assistant Coach Graham,
to decide if they should try zone or go with man to man

The moon of the night, gave way to the sun of mid day.
It was fast approaching game time and the start of play.
When, what to my wondering eyes should finally appear?
But a school van loaded with players in their basketball gear!

With a driver wearing red, his bald head glistening after a shave.
I knew in a moment it must be Coach Geno along with his Braves!
Faster than deer his courses they came.
And he blew his whistle, and shouted, and called them by name

Now Pickett! Now, Shayok! Now Lemmon and Bell!
On, Egolf! On, Eastman! On, on Prosser and Wells!
To the end of the lane! To the top of the rim!
Now dunk away! Dunk away! Make sure to finish them!

They spoke not a word, but went right to the court.
And filled the rims with baskets, and set screens that actually worked!
They took shots with the refs holding 3 fingers over their heads
And knocked down jumper after jumper, until their opponents were dead!

As the clock wound down, and the zebras blew the final whistle
Thousands of students flew onto the court like the down of a thistle
But I heard Coach Ford scream, as he ran into the locker room out of sight
Merry Christmas to all, and to Michigan and their fans, GOOD NIGHT:!:

but it isn't going to be played in our "Coliseum" -- it's gonna be in the city's downtown arena..
but I understand "literary license".. ;)

Too hard to rhyme 'arena':lol::lol::lol:

I had considered:

'...to be played in Carver Arena'

'...hoping lots of fans will finally come, even the blue hairs with..... emphysema'

Any one have anything better?:lol::lol:

Someday...........

'Tens of students' just didn't have the same ring to it :lol:

well there should hopefully be more of us to rush the court than there were a few years ago when we beat UNI... i remember thinking there were tons of us til i saw the picture my dad took from the upper bowl...

As with everything else I post on this site, don't take it too literally, or, too seriously! ;)

I suspect the actual number of BU students in the Coliseum, er, Carver Arena, to watch the Braves take on the Wolverines tomorrow, to be somewhere in between 'thousands' and 'tens'!

Best/loudest crowd I ever saw, including lots and lots and lots of students, was BU vs ISU Red at Carver, but can't remember the year... sigh. Could have been 1982-85, or, 1993-94 or sometime between 1998 and 2009........

That might have been Hersey's senior year when Bradley beat ISU in the MVC tournament.

I was on the floor with the Molinarmy for the BU win over Michigan in '97, and when Eric Roberson dunked on Tractor, the place went up.

Great student crowd that night, as we stormed the floor. My roommate's lasting memory was touching the bald, sweaty head of Bayo...

Thread of the young season!
Bravo, Bravo AZ!

Way to put the finishing touch on the story...like the fairy tale ending!
At least we'll have 1 feel good story after the final whistle tomorrow.
Thanks for the entertainment!
Now get to bed y'all so Santa Ford can get his reindeer together and give every BU fan in the land a nice early Christmas present!

I hope the student section is spending the evening placing some phone calls to the hotel rooms of Trey Burke and the gang.

Still pissed they rushed the court for that.

Az ,I'm impressed wouldn't think of critizing anything you put in that great Christmas story. Now if we can just make it all come true. Thanks for all your good work. Go Braves
