Two Bradley Freshmen to redshirt

PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley freshman guard Jake Eastman (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman H.S.) and freshman forward Jordan Prosser (Goodfield, Ill./Eureka H.S.) will redshirt the 2009-10 season and maintain four years of eligibility for the Braves starting with the 2010-11 campaign, eighth-year Bradley head coach Jim Les announced today.

"We believe both Jake and Jordan have bright futures in our program," said Les. "With the depth we have at both of their positions, though, we have the luxury to allow them an extra year to develop and make an even greater impact down the road."

Prosser sees his time behind WE, SS, and AT to be limited...I think this'll be good for him
What a luxury to be able to consider this kind of thing!

I think this is a GREAT move. This is what programs that sustain success have the luxury of doing. It also is what programs with unselfish kids do as well. In an emergency we can always 'unredshirt' a guy, but I think this is a very, very good move for the long term success of this program. Believe me, Eastman and Prosser in Year 5 will give us more than they every could have in Year 1.

Eastman I already knew about. Prosser was discussed about on here, but I already pretty well explained why I don't like it (ie Thompson).

That and outside of Egolf and Brown, where is our rebounding coming from up front:doubt:

Did you really expect Prosser to log big minutes this year? I did last year, but what I have seen and read, I don't think he's ready and think it's a wise move not to waste a year of his eligibility.

No, not big minutes, but we all know how limited Sam Singh is and what has Thompson done to prove he deserves big minutes?

I liked Prosser to get some minutes and come in and throw his body around a little and grab a few rebounds while he's in.

I mean who expects Will to log 30 every game even though looking at it, we may need him to?

Maybe it means Thompson is ready to contribute.

Gosh I hope so, but his not even knowing where he was supposed to be during free throws tends to make me believe otherwise.

Taylor Brown was lost at times too on Sunday. I'll reserve judgment until we're further along this season.

You should be happy, this means DSE is definitely in the plans this year despite the guard depth.

I look forward to both those guys being great before their time is done here, they both have a lot of potential, and I think redshirting players is great for the program.

Was this a big surprise after watching the scrimage on Sunday? WE will not have to play 30 minutes a game. He only played 15 on Sunday. I really think unless he gets into foul trouble he will play about 20-25 minutes and the rest will be between SS & AT. AT showed some progress and looked like he was a Soph sunday. The best thing that happened was the Brazil trip where AT had to play. He started figuring out he has to exert himself and he will only improve. Am I expecting great things out of AT? Not really, but enough to help out and as was posted earlier Prosser is going to give us a lot more in his 5th year then he ever would have in his 1st year.

Wow, I'm surprised at Prosser, but if does mean AT is ready to contribute this season, and that JP is okay to wait a year to get on the court it's just absolutely fantastic news for our program. Could be that we're looking at 20 minutes for WE, 15 for AT, and 5 for SS at the 5 position this season... I have just reached the head-exploding level of preseason excitement. Try to avoid it every year, but it never works. :D

Will better be getting more than 5 min more than AT. Thats all I will say about that.

If you were going to play these guys just at the 5, then I'd go with this:

24
10 (who plays better in that game Thompson or Singh)
6

BUT I'd like to play big sometime and play Will at the 4 if given the chance...JL will probably never do it, but it would certainly give a different look.

JP is a bit of a surprise if he was scheduled to play the 4! If they see him as a 5 then I understand.

I guess MK will be the 2nd option at the 4.

BTW...SS is not a bad rebounder. Where he get's in trouble is when our guards forget to box out their man and lets them come in on the weak-side. He's not quick enough to make those adjustments but neither is 90% of the bigs out there. We need rebounding to be a team effort every night. If you ever want to see a clinic on team rebounding check out a Tom Izzo team.
