Anybody watch him play this weekend? He was pretty impressive. Can shoot, great handles, quick.... Why has nobody signed this guy? I think he could play for us next year... He doesn't look the part until u see him play, but he was tough.

Sat real close and heard he had a reputation from some Breese Central guys....

kid can get into an opponents head.....always mixing it up and i LIKE IT

he was the one that caused Weems Jr. to react and eventually get ejected.....smart player...player that the opponents are most likely to hate

He's a potential preferred walk-on, but I think he'll end up at John A Logan.

From what I saw he's a better player than that. He would definitely a scholarship caliber player at a lot of D1 schools. Again I only saw 2 games but there was a lot to like about him, and I don't say that very often

Tyler Smithpeters' older brother Kyle is the head coach at John Logan junior college-

Kyle Smithpeters is a former SIU player. Tyler might consider going to the juco, but I think he'll get some scholarship offers for D2 or possibly D1 schools.

He's definitely mid-major material, no doubt. He was blowing by Seton players off the dribble with a broken foot. I'd take him at BU in a heartbeat.

Would you take him ahead of Jordan Swopshire and DeShawn Delaney?

Idk..... Probably not ahead Delaney... Haven't seen swopshire. Smithpeters seems Like the kinda player that Northern Iowa or Indiana state would get and at some point in the future will torch us and or hit daggers late in a game and everyone will say how come we can't find kids who can shoot or where do they find these guys. We need a mix of players like Smithpeters AND Delaney and Swopshire... Diversity is what makes a tough team. Plus who knows If delaney or swopshire will even come here.

After watching him only this weekend.....no chance I recruit this kid. Way to slow and serious lack of athleticism. Made 7 shots all weekend only 1 was longer than a layup. 1 for 8 on 3's. Scored 12 of 23 points (against S.A.) off free throws in one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen in any Illinois state tournament round. Routinely got beat while guarding the ball in their zone defense and had no chance playing man to man against Seton Academy. Against Ogden he scores 5 points with 5 fouls, 4 to's, and took a kid down by the head who had beat him for positioning on a rebound. Easily should have been called a flagrant foul. Actually saw a lot of cheap shots, pushing, and fouls from him in both games. We can do a lot better than him at Bradley. Heck, I can think of 4 local unsigned senior guards that would be better walk-ons than him right now in Reynolds, Wells, Boone, and Mathews.

You're completely wrong about being slow and un-athletic. He was getting by the SA guards regularly. Good multi-tool player who can score and defend. I agree with the cheap play, they were dirty, but that doesn't mean the kid isn't good. Frankly, I'd take him over any of the four you mentioned.

EXACTLY. Bradley's lack of these type of heady players who can score in various ways is a killer. You can recruit all the athletic guys you want, but if they don't have a head for the game and are just bodies on offense, forget it, you'll keep finishing .500 or below and be godawful to watch.

We'll see about DD, haven't seen him play, but he fits the BU mold. JS is more of a 3, not a 2 like TS would be. TS can't be any more one-dimentional than SS or TP.

Highly skilled role players like TS are valuable in this conference, every other top team has one or two, BU has none right now from what I can see (JE is now gone). I'd take him over Bell

plenty of stories being written about other teams following Delaney - now that they're in the playoffs - every school with an open scholarship will be there to watch him...
I would love to see us outrecruit them all - go for it........

For what it's worth, he played the entire weekend on a broken foot suffered in Tuesday's super sectional.

I so agree with everything you posted. Only I wouldn't call some cheap shots I'd call them dirty. Talked to alot of people who thought he was mainly responsible for that whole fiasco Sat. night. We can do alot better.IMO

I would rather have a kid like that...than the soft, passive players I have seen come through here

Agree. Or someone who actually understands the game and can, I don't know, hit a mid-range jump shot? Give me a basketball player over an "athlete" any day. This type of recruiting mentality has made BU unwatchable the last few years.

He did instigate it. But it did get the other teams best player thrown out of the game, which worked out pretty well for Harrisburg.

I like what you said here. Bradley has had a lot of quick, long, athletic wing type players who don't always have a head for the game. I'm not sure Smithpeters is good enough for the MVC level, but he's a gutty player who outplayed kids much more athletic than himself.
