It is pretty obvious that not having JP and SS inside was a big factor in so much as it required JE to play quite a bit at the 4 when TP got in foul trouble. TP only played 6 minutes in the first half, which helps to explain the close score. Also, remember this was the 1st exhibition game vs a team that has already scrimmaged other teams. Nerves, playing freshman and walkons, and not having 3 players available, all of whom started at least 5 games a year ago surely contributed to the 1st half score. Bradley led by 20 with 3 mins left. Last year, we needed a 3pt shot by Stewart to help us win the 1st exhibition game.
Depth is an issue for this team. They may only have 8, maybe 9 guys that can play...WL, DSE, JE, TP, WE, JC, JP, SS - NW?. Two scholarship guys can't play as transfers in OG and AF.
For those upset on the shooting...10-17 from 3pt, with the starting 2 guard going 3-3 and the a senior big going 4-5 is a good problem.
This team is better. It is obvious when you watch and consider who didn't play. But, getting out of Thursday is pretty unlikely.
