Valley is 1-0

Northern Iowa takes out the 1st. place Colonial team that beat Georgetown ,Old Dominion behind Ali Farokmanesh's 23 second 1/2 points. Actually The Panthers controlled the game througout.
Even though the Colonial refs made some dubious calls,
Remember tomorrows Bradley opponent Drexel is from the Colonial Conference.

I warned you in a different thread that our refs are terrible. The only consistency they have is being inconsistent. Either way good win for your conference so far, uni looked really solid against a big odu team.

that was without the potential Player of the Year, Eglseder...

you know when i see uni play without edlseder(creighton and 2nites game) i really see a good team without him. just different. one advantage they have when he is not is that it frees up alot of space. i just dont see him now as the conference player of the year. sammy is more deserving.

Farokhmanesh is a good shooter, but his percentages are nowhere near the best in the MVC. He shoots 38.9% from three (35.2% in MVC games- which ranks 20th), and 40.4% overall this year, and averages just 9.5 ppg- not exactly "lights out". He has had almost half his games (12 games) this year in single digits.

By comparison, Bradley has Andrew Warren, who some say is having a disappointing season, shooting 40.6% from three (43.2% in MVC games), and averaging 14.3 ppg, and has only scored in single digits 5 times all year.
Chris Roberts is also shooting better than Farokhmanesh at 39.2%, and averaging 9.3 ppg.

yea...funny how a 6-5 guy that's a great defender that shoots 41% gets criticized all the time by some, then they turn around and wish they had a 5-10 guy who's unidimensional and shoots 39%??

still seems weird that we can beat uni and lose siu and a depleted indiana state.

parity within a good league

UNI is a good team, they are ranked and kicking everyone's butt..
we are several games out of 1st yet we have shown we can play them even...
I accept that as evidence of parity in a good league...

No dispute here on parity. :) Just don't agree with good league this year (or last). The ACC is also mediocre this year.... as is the SEC, Pac-10 and a few others.

I'd be curious as to whether anyone else thinks the MVC is a good league this year..........

Cornell is a good team. They were ranked and kicking everyone's butt. Penn is several games out of 1st yet they have shown they can more than play Cornell even.

By his own logic, tornado must accept that as evidence of parity in a good league.

I personally do not think there is much parity in the Ivy League, and believe that the league is not very good. I especially believe that Penn is one of the worst D-1 teams out there. But I guess that is just my opinion as tornado's logic says otherwise.

Compared to 2006, the league is about as far from good as it can get...

The MVC is still the 9th best conference in America. Now, how you define "good" when you're #9 may vary from fan to fan. But that's reasonably OK for me.

Your opinion is right. We played both teams this year. Cornell pulled away very late and gave us one of our few home losses. I think Cornell is not as good as many think actually from the fact that we had a chance to beat them, but penn is absolutely dreadful. I was shocked they were able to complete a few passes and actually shoot the ball, yet alone beat cornell by 15. That game was clearly a fluke, however a very bad fluke for cornell, if they were to need an at large. Cornell can be beaten if you take away the 3 point shot. They have some bigs but they rely too much on the 3 ball.

We did win the MWC-Mo Valley challenge and the Mountain West is rated higher than the Valley. I do like our chances to dominate the Bracketbusterm although Bradley WILL NOT beat Drexel without Taylor Brown.
So we win The Challenge and say win 70% of Bracketbuster games. I would say, The Valley is a very good Mid major conference.,... with alot of parity 2-9.

sorry, I don't follow your definition of logic (thankfully), instead I watch the teams and draw my own conclusions...and those conclusions are not necessarily the ones that everyone else will accept..
but then, I long ago stopped trying to just please the others who have not seen those teams play...
