Valley Recruits

Not sure which thread to put this in, but it's news about the Drake roster for next season.
Drake center Darnell Brodie is a 5th year senior, having spent 2 years at Seton Hall (2018-19 & 2019-20), and the last 3 at Drake (2020-21, 2021-22, & 2022-23).
But there is an unofficial report tonight that Brodie will not be participating in their Senior Night Wednesday, possibly a suggestion he plans to return next season-

But a year ago, it was reported that this current season would be his extra "Covid year"-

So if he does have another season of eligibility, it may be because he only played in 3 games in the 2019-20 season.
 
Evansville lands a transfer from the portal-
Cameron Haffner, a 6'2" freshman guard from Eastern Illinois. He averaged 7.5 ppg and shot 43% from three. He was named to the All Freshman team in the OVC. He is the son of former Evansville star player Scott Haffner

Scott Haffner was a terrific shooter who played for the Aces in the late 1980s, and played a couple seasons in the NBA.

He started 31 of 33 games, and averaged 15.6 ppg and 3.5 apg this season, and shot 42.3% from three. Indiana State lost 4 starters from their team that finished 5th in the MVC this past season. They lost 75.7% of their scoring, including their top 3 scorers- Courvoirsier McCauley (15.9 ppg), Cooper Neese (11.6 ppg), and Cameron Henry (11.0 ppg).
 
Belmont adds a player from the portal-
Malik Dia- a 6'9" freshman forward who played this past season at Vanderbilt. He is originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He played in 20 games, averaging 8.7 minutes per game, He averaged 2.6 ppg and 1.6 rpg. His FG% was only 30.2% (19-63), but he shot a lot of threes for such little playing time and was 35.3% from three (12-34). He was only 7-29 on 2-point shots (24.1%).

Shawn Walker, Jr., a 6'6" senior shooting guard originally from the state of North Carolina. He spent his freshman year at George Washington U., then played his sophomore year at Tallahassee Junior College, then the last 2 seasons at Mercer University (Macon, GA) of the Southern Conference. Mercer was 14-19 overall, and 6-12 in the SoCon.
He averaged 8.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, and shot 39.8% from three this past season as a starter. He has one season of eligibility left for his Covid year.

Benjamin Humrichous is a 6'8" junior at NAIA Huntington University, a small, private Christian university in Huntington, Indiana. He is transferring after playing 3 seasons at Huntington. This past season he averaged 12.8 ppg (3rd on the team) and 5.2 rpg. Huntington played Evansville in a preseason exhibition game last November, and Humrichous had 8 points and 6 rebounds in the game.
