Valley scores...RPI...Valley leaders.standings from 1/30...

It's too bad ISU lost, we could use UNI below us in the standings, hopefully they will be playing on thursday...

Gotta give Drake there props. Going from bottom feeders for the last decade to having one of the best records in the nation the next season is really remarkable. If they had a ranked win there RPI would probably be in the top 3. At this rate, they will be a top 15 and possibly a top 10 team by the time we play them again. And to think we came within a second of beating them GRRRRRRRRRRR.

I have one comment on the ISU game.......

What in the world has happened to Levi Dyer....some people's pick as the preseason Player of the Year in the MVC??

He had another horrible game last night, going 0-2 from 3-pt and scoring only 2 pts in 15 min.
He was their money player last year, will someone give us a hint whether he's injured or what??

If you go to the conference standings Big Mike posted, the last 4 that are listed will be the 4 that play on Thursday in STL.

Indiana State
Missouri State
Wichita State
Evansville.

Here are his stats this year, game-by-game--
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/players/38427

Levi Dyer was honorable mention in the MVC postseason last year and started the last 19 games. He was a preseason pick for Hon. Mention All-MVC this year, too. Levi was the 2nd leading 3-point percentage shooter last year at 48% (2nd to Jeremy Crouch). But his game has definitely suffered from the coaching change. --

I don't know who picked him as POY candidate.

He's a very one-dimensional player and his one dimension has gone hasta la bye-bye. He has zero confidence right now and if he's not making perimeter shots he does little else to help the team.

Not sure what happened but his confidence appears to be gone for good. He has scored 17 points in the last 6 games.

Drake had non-conference cupcakes IMHO aside from St. Mary's (their only loss). Had they played Michigan State, Vandy, and Butler I dont think they'd be looking so rosy.

The Pantagraph is now reporting that Anthony Slack will likely be back this Saturday for ISU
http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2008/01/31/usports/doc47a274f6bb3ce827120297.txt

and one other thing I feel compelled to say....the players for ISU and their fans (yes, that's you Cooksey & cpacmel) have been pretty classy during the first half of the MVC season.
Certainly you had every right to boast and get on BU a little, and yet I saw little of that.

As this article notes near the bottom, the Valley race is definitely tightening up a bit, and a whole bunch of teams are within a couple games battling for spots #2 through #7. I think it is going to be a good ending to what appeared early as a bad season for BU fans, and barring injury, 2nd place'll come down to SIU, BU, CU, and ISU.
