Valley tournament

There is a huge Casino being built in the landing area. It's just North of the MLK bridge for those of you that know the area well. I'm not sure how they're going to avoid the riverboat thing though as the casino is at the top of the landing area in what would be the Northwest corner of the Landing. It's actually only about 2 blocks from the Dome. I think it might be replacing the President's casino.
The Pinnacle River City Casino is scheduled to open sometime in 2008.. There was also advertising all over the place when I was down there a couple weeks ago for the Grand Re-Opening of the new Casino Queen on August 1st.

Has anyone found anything in the 100-120 a night range near union station for the weekend? I have the Hampton Inn at $145 for 2 beds(A buncha college kids, we need two beds...) but thats more than I wanna spend. I booked Drury Plaza as a backup but I'd like to get closer to the Union Station Area.

The Hampton a couple blocks west of Union Station has rooms listed for $99 a night for that weekend. I hope this link works--

It looks like it's possible to reserve rooms now and cancel them later if you decide to stay elsewhere, or to not go. That's probably the best idea. There are some hotels, like the Drury near Union Station and the Sheraton near the Scottrade that are already showing no rooms available.

The lowest prices will be at the hotels across the river in Collinsville, Illinois. There are some hotels there for around $50-$60 a night.

Yeah I had the $99 a night but it's for one double bed, which isn't gonna work. There are rooms left at the Renaissance Grand, but there is a cancellation fee, however I might go in that direction. Anyone else have anything?

We are planning on staying downtown St. Louis for a little of the night life, otherwise we'd be at the EconoLodge at the riverfront which BTW has rooms for about $80 a night.

For the past 3 years, Bradley has stayed at the Renaissance Grand Hotel at 800 West Washington, near the dome. Prior to that, they stayed one year each at the Drury Plaza, and the Millenium Hotels. And before that they stayed several years at the old Marriott Pavillion hotel (now the downtown Hilton).

But the location for Bradley this year has not been announced yet. We hope to know this soon.

Outside of sleeping, we spend very little time in the room.
It has always been nice to stay at ther team's hotel. In past years, there have been many activities planned for the fans at the team hotel such as pregame parties, postgame receptions, send-off celebrations, etc. The past couple years, these parties have been at the hotel nearest to the Savvis/Scottrade Center.

The hotel rates can vary widely in St Louis, and also depend on other activities that are going on in town that weekend. Last year, many Bradley fans were unable to get into the Renaissance Grand because of a large convention that was going on at the Edward Jones Dome (something to do with quilting and crafts). Most years, there have been plenty of avilable rooms at Bradley's hotel. But if you are interested in staying where Bradley and many of the fan stay, it would be best to book early, as soon as we know what hotel that would be.

If booking at the lowest cost is important, then it may be better to wait until a couple months before the tournament when hotels usually start discounting their extra rooms.

When do you guys anticipate that BU will release what hotel the team will be staying at?

Here is what I just found out--

the hotel assigments have already been made, and the official announcement will be released by the MVC on Friday, July 27.

I will be finding out this information, and as a service to our Bradleyfans members, I will be posting it here, maybe tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

The low bid rate right now is $44. It'll go down if there aren't any big conventions booked that weekend.

The best I ever did was getting the Crown Plaza for $20 one year. We've gotten suites for $25 to $30 (before the HRA tax). Last year was a little tougher and we got the Millineum for somewhere around $35.

Wow, those are downtown hotels right? Where did you find those?

Usually priceline. You just have to know that you are going for sure. Don't bid on multiple rooms with friends that might back out. While priceline has its pitfalls, it works great for me for the Valley tournament.

These prices can vary a lot. Last year, all the hotels near downtown sold out, and there just weren't any of the deep discounted rooms we've seen in some previous years. Some of that had to do with the couple large conventions/shows that were in town that weekend. And some had to do with the enormous number of fans from Wichita State, SIU, and Creighton that attended last year.

Bradley's hotel for the 2008 MVC tournament will be the Renaissance Grand Hotel. This is the same hotel the Bradley team has stayed at for the past 3 years. They still have plenty of available rooms. If anyone needs any more information about this hotel, or how to reserve a room, PM me.
