VCU at Bradley Saturday 12/22, 7:05 pm

Thanks, SFPete.

I have learned that this Insight broadcast will be shown in several large areas along the East Coast. Both the video and audio coverage (the Bradley announcers included) was picked up by Comcast and other cable systems in Maryland and Virginia, as well as the Carolinas, and maybe as far north as Philadelphia/New York/New Jersey. That's good publicity for Bradley, especially if they can win. This kind of extended coverage for Bradley is another added bonus coming from the new deal with Insight/Comcast.

Good find Coach... but really wonder why Bradley can't get hooked up with Comcast in Chicago. That would be a huge gain.

Too much competition ... between Loyola, DePaul, UIC and even Chicago St., they think that people around town only care about the local teams. Yet, I'd venture to guess (especially considering the turnout we get for games up here) that there are more people who follow Bradley up here than any of those except for DePaul.

I am traveling to St. Louis today a little before game time. Will WMBD be available at least part of the way down past Lincoln? Where else might I be able to catch this game once I get down there?

I have tried to get WMBD away from Peoria many times. Usually, once you are more than 30 miles away, the signal fades out pretty badly.
However, if the weather conditions are just right, occasionally, the signal will travel much farther some nights. I was able to listen to the post-game show in Chicago after the Loyola game, and this past Wednesday, I was even able to hear some of the post-game show (though barely) on my way back from Indianapolis.
So check it out and hope for the best with 1470. There are no other stations you can pick the game up on.

If you have a laptop and a broadband connection, you can listen by going to www.1470wmbd.com .

Well, I still have the Direct TV Sportspack for the time being. But they are showing on the schedule a Wizards/Pacers NBA game for Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic (the channel the MVC website says will be carrying the game). Do you or anyone know if the Bradley game will be shown anywhere on Direct TV?

I know it's still early for most in the season but the VCU game is a MUST WIN IN MY BOOK! It's time to get back on track and take one of these games to task and put close to 40 minutes together! It's time for the BIGS to show up.......time for the 3's to start going in.....time for an identity this season to show up on the court as to "who we are"! SO far we are not the big 3 pt shooting team .......we have not showed much of an inside presence.....so what is our identity? It's hard to come back from 15-20 deficits and win.....the slow starts are bad! I expect JC to give us a game after the Bulter game when he just all but vanished....DR gets a pass from me with the injury....and AW is still a 2nd year player trying to get his groove.....JC needs to get it going and not off the dribble! Get open and fire up some 3's......and it's time to let DC work through some mistakes.....noboby gets better on the bench!

GO BRAVES!

I agree that this was a must win Mike. I was afraid too much emphasis was placed on the Butler game, which didn't make much sense to me because it was a road game against a Top 25 team.

I think they were more mentally prepared for that game (Butler) and just thought that since they were home tonight they could sleepwalk through VCU. You can't do that against a good team, especially one that wants to get you back for stealing one on their home floor.

How wonderful is it that last night's beatdown was broadcast to the entire east coast, including the committee chair's house? Not good.

Crowd was horrible, team was horrible, player intro goof up was horrible, whole evening was just horrible, but Mayner was excellent. Of all people, someone coming halfway across the country was the only thing excellent for saturday evening.

The overhead video showed Ryan Phillips just as the announcer was giving Jeremy Crouch's name in the starting lineup.
I am sure that jinxed us and is the whole reason BU played bad.

Seriously...the intros were a tell-tale sign of things to come. Everything was 'off' by a bit here or there. From the timing of the Ronnie Wright intro, to the song not starting when it was time for lineups, to Ryan Phillips' face flooring the crowd into thinking wholesale lineup changes were made. It was just a bad night all around at Carver.

I've always been against the long, drawn out introduction, unless you have the team to back it up. I liked the old Fieldhouse intros, years ago, when the lights went out and each starter dribbled a ball out to center court with the spot light on them.

I thought the "stripe the arena" thing ended up being really stupid. Not sure why they did it by section, since so many sections overlap upper vs lower bowls.

I would have alternated colors every 3-5 rows.

Of course none of this matters when fans refuse to put on the shirts assigned to them :(

Yeah gotta agree with ya, many sections blended together and it just didn't have the stripe affect. A full color for every seat works 10 times better.

It does work IF people participate! I think large blocks of alternating colors is the only way to make it work. It would have looked even more scattered if you narrowed it down to every few rows. But since many people don't participate in such things, then we should stick to red-outs, even though those should be a given for every game anyways.
