Visitor on campus- Coty Clarke

My sources say he is not yet committed but we might hear something very good soon

Wichita State has also been strongly after Clarke but probably now have dropped off since they just got two verbals from juco forwards...

Here's a comparison between Clarke and the two highly regarded juco forwards Wichita State just landed..

Coty Clarke freshman juco season - 11.1 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 62% FG shooting

Cleanthony Early - played for a D-III junior college far lower level of competition that D-I jucos...
as a juco freshman - 20.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 57% FG shooting

Earl Watson frosh year at Chipola 2011-2012 and won't be at Wichita for two years (2013-2014) - has not played any juco ball yet so his scoring numbers are very hard to put together....
...and he graduated from high school in 2009!!! - then completed two more years of post-grad prep school.....but it is quite odd how so few articles anywhere seems to mention his stats....he's really under the radar..
But you can find many individual game reports from his HIGH SCHOOL GAMES that mention his performances and he usually scored 10-12 pts but as high as 20 pts mostly on dunks, but how many dunks is a 6-5 forward going to get in the Valley

I hope you guys land this kid. Seems like a good one!

As far as the comparisons, Early had plenty of Div 1 JUCO offers but chose to just stay close to home. I doubt Washington State, San Diego St, Iowa St, Alabama, Missouri and perhaps Baylor and Marquette would have had as much interest as they did if he didn't show pretty good skills. I don't think ALL of them offered, but I know many of them did. I know that Washington St, San Diego St, Alabama, Missouri and Wichita St were all schools that offered. While not elite schools, it's still a pretty decent list.

Early was also a part of the Jerry Mullen's top 100 JUCO showcase. Early was playing with and against the countries top JUCO players (all divisions). Here is a few quotes from the article about that showcase:

http://www.jucorecruiting.com/?p=732

Cleanthony Early | 6-8, 220 lbs. | Sullivan CC (NY)

Early had many division 1 junior colleges perusing him when he left Mt. Zion Academy, but he wanted to play near his home town so he chose Sullivan CC. Early was named NJCAA Division 3 Player of the Year as a freshman. Early handles the ball well and is at his best when running in transition. While he is extremely skilled on the offensive end, he may be an even better defender. His length and timing allow him to block or alter shots at will.

Mullen’s Showcase had plenty of front-court talent, which is rare since most camps are extremely guard heavy. The most talent-laden areas of the country will once again be the Southeast (FL, MS, AL) and Midwest/Southwest (TX, KS, IA, IL) regions. While those areas are absolutely loaded the NJCAA D3 player of the year may have had the best weekend individually. Cleanthony Early (Sullivan CC) proved that he didn’t have any problems playing against the best JUCO players in the country. Early’s length and athleticism gave defenders fits. He is extremely skilled for his size (6’8), can defend multiple positions and excels in transition. Early has excellent body control when attacking the rim and pounds the offensive glass

Anyway, just thought I would point out not to be too deceived about him only being in Div III JUCO. I think we landed a pretty good one there. Of course as with ANY recruits time will tell what that impact will truely be.

Again, good luck with Clarke, he would be a good one also!

Thanks Shockerfan, I hope we land Clarke too. Sounds like we are both getting some quality forwards this week. You have your commitments now we need to land ours. Hopefully today.

No problem! I always want to see the Valley get quality players. I really REALLY like Geno Ford. He's gonna keep the good recruits coming, I have no doubt in that. I always felt Les was a great recruiter. I think Ford will be just as good and will be able to tie it all together for success on the court as well.

Coty Clarke is leaving to return home in Alabama around 2 pm.
Contrary to an internet report proclaiming that Coty Clarke had already committed to Bradley- it is not true. Such false reports do not help Bradley, and may be harmful to their recruiting process.

Coty wanted to return home and consult with his most trusted advisors before making a decision. He does have other solid D1 offers. Let's hope we hear positive news soon!

I have heard Coach Ford is out of state recruiting this week.
We might still hear something regarding Coty Clarke today.

It's all in WHO and HOW you word it FWO. ;)

It's obviously how something is worded.

I'm not sure how "I have heard Coach Ford is out of state recruiting this week. We might still hear something regarding Coty Clarke today" can be taken as a "false report" by anyone.

Da Coach's story is 100% different from a statement as fact that is completely WRONG as one person tweeted then removed....

Maybe Da Coach didn't hear Coach Ford is out of state recruiting. I guess that might be the "false report". His other statement sure seems like opinion to me.

are you sure this isn't a "false report that does not help Bradley?"

Yes, I am sure. I am also sure there was an erroneous report Saturday.

I think most people here know I get my information from a "highly reliable source". :)

Let me rephrase it- Coach Ford is out of town recruiting. And he is recruiting other kids for the class of 2012.
If you want exact destinations or flight numbers, PM me. :)

If Coty Clarke were to commit, I suspect the coach would cut his trip short.

So, hypothetical question. If Coty or any forward committed, should we still recruit a big man? I say yes.

1) There is always the chance Will doesn't come back.

2) With a new staff, if a player doesn't get to play as much as he thought he would a transfer would seem likely.

3) Most years someone seems to leave.
