Wade Knapp and Charlie Coley

Well, that stinks. I didn't expect him to come here, but it still stinks.
It would've been nice, but I actually saw him going to a high-major rather than BU or Charlotte.

I guess the real question now is....do we get Knapp to sign ASAP or stay on the smaller Wilson and Gilbert....or do both?

Gilbert

Gilbert

Well I don't know that much about him, but his stats and transfering don't seem to interest me. Maybe he is very talented though I have never seen him play.(Gilbert)

I would have to think Knapp is a priority since he seems to have been toward the top of our list for some time.

off-topic edit: back-to-back-to-back-to-back jacks for the BoSox...4 hr's on 9 pitches! :-o

Why would he go there? I really don't understand what he is thinking.

Well Charlotte is a fairly nice city. It is closer to his home in Florida. The A10 is not a bad conference. They had some players leave (Playing Time).

On the other hand- worse record, coach almost left (May be in trouble?), Bradley would have playing time, Valley is good conference.

May have come down to warmer weather, closer to home?

I know the Charlotte board was extremely happy with the weather this weekend and the "front field" eyecandy that would be present.

Actually I was really worried he would end up at Wichita State. I didn't want to have to play against him for two years. I had no reason for this feeling. The longer the recruiting went, him playing juco in Kansas, new coach, players leaving. I am glad that fear didn't come true.

Same reason I'd like to get Knapp's signature. Also, I really thought Coley would end up at Kentucky or Florida. Very surprised at his choice.

Is that a joke? He wasnt being recruited by Kentucky or Florida. It was us or Charlotte, Im really surprised we lost out on him given those two choices. We have had some recruits choose strange places over us the last few years. Roy Bright is one off the top of my head.

He was recruited by Texas A&M and then was reported to be on Gillespies' list at Kentucky after he left TAM. Florida was just something in the back of my mind considering it's his home state and they did lose a lot of experienced players this year. For some reason, I was under the impression his talent level is closer to high-major than Charlotte or BU. Guess I was way off!

Charlotte is not a bad choice. They recruit and play a lot of jucos. Lutz had 5 jucos on his roster this season. And if Coley signs, that will make 3 more jucos this recruiting class (they already have signed Dijuan Harris and Lamont Mack).

But I don't see any confirmation that he has signed his LOI. If he had, and you would think Charlotte would have had him do that while he was on campus, they should be touting that.

Correct....I haven't seen anything official yet either, but the two sources on their board are said to be 97% reliable. Guess that leaves us 3%. I'll take it at this point. Also, the Mack signing is what makes CC's choice even more interesting. I figured that would hurt their chances if anything.

It's likely he did commit there with those reports. But I heard he told several of the Bradley players he would be committing to Bradley when he was here. But then he told the coaches he intended to return home, discuss things with his father, and make his final visit before he decided. So maybe he might not have actually signed, and went home to discuss it with his family again. We should know in the next couple days.

Wow... I wonder how many scholarships Charlotte had available? They have already signed five players for the 2007-2008 season and that does not include Coley if in fact he did sign this weekend. Then again.....

According to their forum page, they had two scholarships to give....Coley reportedly being one of them.

On a side note, the guy that covers Charlotte for their newspaper posted 20 minutes ago...."i do not have any Coley confirmation ... probably won't until morning".

Not saying I have any further confirmation, but perhaps Coley chose Charlotte over BU simply because of the talent difference.

he possibly felt that at Charlotte he'd be the best player thay have and would guarantee lots of immediate playing time.

In contrast, if Coley came to BU where we have the MVC's two top returning scorers, maybe Coley thought he'd be fighting the freshmen and Matt Salley for playing time.

Who knows?

Hey guys, I'm a Niners fan. I wanted to let you know that nothing has been released about Coley yet. There are sources that have stated on Ninernation.net that he committed to Charlotte, but nothing official yet. I know what it's like waiting on a guy like Coley so I wanted to remind you there is nothing official yet.
