The Indianapolis Mayor robbed while walking in downtown Detroit ..but he needn't feel so bad,
since the Michigan Asst. Attorney General also got robbed, her wallet stolen, and $1300 taken

A good week for the pickpockets apparently...

"The incidents follow an alert last week by the State Police that a nationally
known group of professional pickpockets was expected to arrive for the
event. Tate said officers in crowds warned guests to use caution."

hey-- anyone familiar with Detroit....what's the area of Brush St. near Jefferson like?

I saw a bunch of thievery in Detroit last night, too. There was this quick guy with a shirt that said Lawson on the back....

I have a friend who is currently living downtown Detroit about a block or two from Ford Arena.

He jokes that it is the ghetto.

He said all the bums disappeared last week. They took them into shelters with large screen tvs and constantly ordered out food.

He went to the games Saturday but not last night.

I don't know about Brush St and Jefferson, but I'll ask.

I don't know about that Brush St area but when your city has the 2nd highest crime per population then you know it's bad. Detroit is also the arson capital of the US. In fact, October 30th in Detroit is known as Devils Night. It's a tradition where a bunch of criminals go around and set houses on fire. A whole bunch of fire buffs flock to the city to get video and such. I think this last Devils Night they had roughly 80 houses fires when the average is around 10-15 a day. Most cities that size get about 5-10 a day.
