Wednesday, 7:05PM, SIU-C at Carver Arena - Payback Time

Anyone else want to show up this Wednesday and scream your heads off to support Bradley?
I know I'll be wearing my red and hitting 90-100 decibels.
And I am going to be merciless with the thug references.

I hope the Braves will be half as pumped as I will be.

You must be talking about the cheap shot T. young gave to Pat and bragged about how he did it on purpose in the championship game of the tour.

I'm taking off of work early to make the drive down to Peoria!

But I don't need an excuse to want to beat down SIU ... I recall a certain game 3 years ago that reason enough to despise them! The game they stole at SIU on the full court pass when they were ranked and had that long home winning streak ...

I'll have to check my schedule to see if I can make it.....OK schedule looks OK.

As far as "yelling"....Kavanagh has invoked the  LE  rule for Dru and I must remain in my seat and quiet as a church mouse.

I'll be hitting some of the fine downtown establishments before the game with a few of my SIU friends. They are loud and annoying and should help turn up the volume in my section.

It seems like Bradley's rivalry with SIU is now as big or bigger than it once was against ISU. That's probably a good thing. But funny how quickly things change. I don't see much excitement for the ISU game anymore.

They weren"t very loud last year as the game was not close; hopefully we can play well and make some 3 pointers as siu has trouble scoring ; I would like to see more zone defense against them as they do not usually shoot from the outside very well.

I went to the ISU/BU game last year at Redbird. Tickets were not hard to come by. What happened to the War on 74?

Well. . .when the birds suck as badly as they do, it leads to a lack of interest.

I am coming down during the week for the game. I will be there. I will be loud. I hope Mullins is in tears after game.

Don't know exactly what happened here (pic from the Wichita St at SIU game), but I am bet it was similar to OB's hit last year:

Mac--- this IS exactly what happened.

In the first half of the game in Wichita against SIU, F/C Phillip Thomasson was playing well and then early in the 2nd half he was nearly knocked unconscoius by an elbow and had to leave to get stitches. He played only 7 min. in the 2nd half.

Here is the comment by one of the observers although it is not necessarily the gospel:

"I don't know the circumstances surrounding Thomasson's injury, but it does seem to be quite a coincidence that the guy who was ripping SIU up in the first half ended up needing stitches in the second half.
I imagine WSU's players know the circumstances and if it was anything attributable to an SIU player, the game in Wichita could be difficult for the officials to control.
If it was a cheap shot from an SIU player, memories are long about injured players and WSU's lineup next year looks a bit less "nice" than this year's lineup
.

I can find no other reports of what happened.

Thanks T - I figrued as much.

I wish The Dawgs would take their 'thug-like' behavior out on teams like Arkansas or Indiana - not on teams from their same conference. But if that is how they want to be considered and remembered by in the MVC, then their fans shouldn't take exception to comments from the rest of the MVC teams fans about their behavior. (not that they have, maybe they are proud of it... I suppose you need to stand up for something)

Saluki fan here. Can't wait for the game.

I have the WSU game on tivo and replays pretty clearly show that the elbow actually came from another WSU player while Thomasson was fouling Shaw. It wasn't a cheap shot, it was an accidental elbow from a teammate.

Should be a good game, I say SIU wins 69-61.

Welcome to the board saluki7621 - thanks for the clarification.

As to your prediction, are you so sure SIU can score 69 points at Carver this year?

I say no.

The blow to Patrick O'Bryant's head a year ago was not an inadvertant blow, though. Tony Young bragged about it after the game to a St. Louis writer. So I think there will still be some grudges to settle.
It won't be easy. SIU has been as good over the last 5 years as an team in recent MVC history, and to their credit, they have done it during this period of unprecedented high RPI ranking the MVC has achieved. The MVC has never been better, comparatively speaking, and SIU is a big reason for that.

Are there many SIU fans coming up to Peoria for the game?

I can only comment on the bleeding in the WSU game.
:D
I am not sure how many SIU fans will be making the trip. I am sure there will be a decent number. I can't make it as work is so busy I can't make the trip.

69 just makes me laugh. I still say SIU by 8, we may not be able to score 69 points but I like the teams chances for victory, especially with Crouch still out.

braves will handle siu with ease. they can't shoot worth a lick. all we need to do is play zone so the big guy doesn't go off on us.
