Well grounded Updates

Had a recent opportunity to visit with an old friend who is involved with college basketball and is super close and knowledgeable regarding situations in and around the Midwest. This friends opinions are very well grounded. Here's what he says:
1. The Wilkins situation is virtually over as far as BU is concerned. BU has no chance---He is going elsewhere.

2. My friend has known Jim Platt for many years and says he is a great coach and will be a major help to JL and BU. Very strong on defense and a quality person.

3. He is very high on Max Bielfeld. Says MB could be an outstanding player at BU and in the MVC if he selects BU. Will be a strong inside player even though he is only 6-7 and probably won't grow much more.

4. Says the absolute key to BUs success next year and after, is to sign a true big who can be an offensive post presence.

Wizard, on number one. I can live with it if he also told you ISU is out of the picture as well? I have assumed for some time we had little chance.

Wizard told me who the reports casme from, and it's not Flash, but someone just as reliable.

What about one big to be and inside presence and one big who can score. That was my biggest hope for our last two scholarships.

Well if this big man (very subtle hints everyone ;-) lol) is coming for sure, and we have WL, and JW is for sure out. Marshall Henderson or Ben Mills are both really appealing options to me for the third scholie. Btw there is a legitimate website that has stated for a while Bradley is interested is this "secret big guy."

I would say Marshall Henderson is most appealing because losing 3 guards (our best three 3 point shooters) we need a pure shooter next year, plus with a team with great depth having a transfer might be a good idea so we don't have to worry about getting 13 guys playing time since only 12 can dress. And he would come in with experience. But a 7'1 guy next to this "other big" would look really good in a year or so too.

The thing I don't get though about JW is if Iowa St. is out, Bradley is out, and Indiana doesn't offer, is Illinois St. really where he'll be going? I guess there is Iowa now, but that doesn't seem logical at this point. If we are ruled out where else would he be going?

Btw, I am also very excited to see what Jim Platt brings to the table, sounds like a great hire!

If he is gone, he is going to Indiana. Just MHO. I think that it is all said and done for his flirtation with BU. Flash Flanagan helped him out and then he got his name out there and really blew up. It will be interesting to follow his career wherever he does go, but I highly doubt it will be BU. We'll see though, crazier things have happened. Also, I don't wanna hear a report I want to see a picture with John Wilkins and a pen in his hand holding up the NLI to whatever school he picks. NO MORE SPECULATION!

Agree totally on #2.

#1...if true, I hope he goes to ISU. We get to see him twice every year. He gets to come into a hostile, rocking CA with enough hard fouls to go around, and then go back home and play in front of 5000 strong at Redbird.

I also don't think he is as good as advertised, or else he'd have BCS guys lined up. After not playing competitive basketball for 2 years, it was hard for the greatest of all time, Michael Jordan, to get back to game shape.

But hey, what do I know...

He will go to IU or ISU and hopefully be a bust.

I will have a couple things to holler in peoria...if he makes the worst choice
