!00% correct on this, I wonder if some of these posters even have a clue about what has transpired at BU over the last 20 years as far as mens basketball, either our players are not as good as advertised or the coach is not doing a good job, well it was the coach that told us these guys are good so it leads directly to him .

One Jim has turned into the other Jim as our team has not been fun to watch because they struggle to score, sound familiar?
Are you really disputing the talent on the 9-20 team? Danny Granger, plus Joah Tucker (Horizon POY), Antoine Tisby (SEC player), and 2 all-MVC guys (Gilbert and Gillingham). Your bench consists of Marcello Robinson and Mike Suggs, both very solid player for both Mo and Jim Les. Jason Faulknor was also on that roster, and may have been serviceable had it not been for a myriad of injuries. But he's the 8th guy I am talking about. It could be one of the biggest wastes of talent in Bradley history...but the talent level on that team is indisputable. Talent wasn't an issue then. It hasn't been an issue for the better part of the JL era, but in almost all areas, we're either on par or worse off than we were record-wise. The number of end of year all-league players tilts quite a bit in Mo's favor as well, which again is hard to argue against.
Again, I wanted Mo GONE after that year. Maybe I was a year premature, but I couldn't and still can't fathom 9-20 with that team. In hindsight I think that team had a couple league titles in it, but we will never know. Hindsight is always 20/20.
It's either the talent or the coaching, either way, the coaches fault. This is my point. I don't know why that team went 9-20, I don't care. They didn't even get 10 wins!!!
Either JL is getting more with less, or has better talent. People on here want it neither way. It doesn't work like that. If the talent was young, the coach should have spread it out more. Not you BB, but I love on here how people will argue that it's all JL's fault, but then MO should be excused because they were young. If it's all up to the coach, it's all up to the coach. But that wouldn't fit into the pattern of needlessy bashing our current head coach, so they don't worry about that.

About 5 years ago, I had my best year at my job (by far!). After that I immediately renegotiated my contract and haven't had similar results. Many people argue that I'm getting worse every year. Luckily I don't work in the real world and still have a job!

I guess if I was coach, I would grow pretty tired of the constant attacks from the press, from fans, on message boards..
hey -- just being a message board poster gets me attacked...I can only imagine what the coach sees and hears....
Even if you don't like the current coach this cacophony of rips and criticisms will surely guarantee that we'll get gobs of great applicants for the position
and we'll probably hire away the current head coach of EKU or Army, so be prepared...
Just as people whined and wailed a few years ago to get rid of Mo, they're at it again ..and next time around will probably only give the new guy 2-3 years before it starts again...
I couldn't agree more. I think you're agreeing with me... But it is very clear many on here have a penchant for bashing the current head coach. I have said countless times, I am not a huge JL fan, but think he does a great job recruiting and love his attitude toward grades and discipline. And some that makes me the enemy and clearly I think JL is god and have never seen a BU Basketball game, even though I post otherwise, quite often. I really don't think people understand what our next hire will be and they might very well be longing for the days of JL.

it's the endless drones of the same thing - the turning over every thread, even threads about totally different subjects, into JL-bashing - and the preemptive slams about being on the hot seat - and the slamming of JL for things (like injuries) that he has no control over...
It seems to never end, and yet if we had taken a poll at the start of the season, most would have said they'd be happy with 4-2 at this point...

Grades and discipline are nice but they aren't gonna get butts in the seats...
Sorry to inform you but most people going to the games want to see good BASKETBALL played...not a debate or chess match...
Yes he may recruit better, but shouldn't that translate to wins and championships?
9 years and ZERO championships...
After 8+ there is no fence here...you're on one side or the other...
Clearly you are on the keep him and sustain middle of the road side...
While that's fine, it certainly doesn't give you the right to go all high and mighty and assume that your opinion means much more than others that frequent this board...
Simple facts have been stated and others have been opinion, BUT I can flat out guarantee that if the embarrassment and home losses continue, attendance will go way down and people will rather stay at home and watch Law & Order reruns than this non sense!
While many of us appreciate what these kids do in the community many of the fans and ALL of the casual fans only care about what happens in between the lines, and in this market and the economy, that's more who has to be catered to.
Whether you're on the pro or anti Les side, a decision for all of us has to be made...

We go with a new coach and possibly lose recruits and are not sure of the results...could be better or could be worse...we just do not know.
I for one am ready for someone and anyone that can build a consistent offense and defense and win at least 1 championship...our last was in 1996 recall.
I agree that I am not certain the current administration could make an educated decision and a great hire, but at this point, should that really stop us from a change? That is part of the question I pose from earlier in this post...
All rambling aside, something has to give this year I feel and in an average MVC, if we can not finish 4th or higher even without Taylor, this should be the end of the line.

Exactly! If every minute detail concerning the current basketball program is the direct result of something the head coach has done, then it must be true for every other college basketball coach in the country, past and present.
I'm not sure why we wouldn't hire the head coach from EIU since he apparently prepares his players better.
At least you're giving him until the end of the year now. I was under the impression you wanted him fired six games into the season.
Bottom line, the coach gets paid a lot of money to win , in sports you have to be able to withstand the critics , I am sure it hurts to hear all the bad things that people say about the program but it is just part of the territory.
I have been going to Bradley games over 40 plus years and the only way you get the support of the fan base is to win, J.Stowell was one of the finest basketball coaches around, whenever he was lucky enough to have good talent he won games because he was a great coach, just could not recruit good enough and was let go, if he had the talent these last 2 BU coaches had we would have won multiple championships .

That is the most disappointing thing, it just appears that he thinks he can go it alone with his own idea"s , well he has proven he can"t.

I dunno about others but I think that comes with the territory...just look at how bad Lowery is getting it at SIU...
Imagine if he were at a BCS how worse it would be...
I'm sorry but if I did my job just slightly above average (if that) and didn't direct my employees under me properly, it'd take a whole lot less than 9 years for me to lose my job.
I would agree with you if they attacked his lifestyle or his family, but I have yet to see anything not related to coaching...
It is what it is at this point...lots of people are not happy...
If he had won a title with this group last year or the previous group with Theron, he'd have a pass, but it never happened...I think 9 years is more than enough to prove the worth of a head coach...
Where else can you see someone giving 9 years with zero titles of Bradley's caliber and not make a change?

Yes, and I really question how much input (once again) is being allowed by the assistants in game as from my vantage point I see a lot of clipboard holding going on.
I see the same thing, he seems to want to do everything on his own, believe that is why an asst. left in the middle of the season last year as he had very little input.
