I thought the Bish and Bussone did a fine job, especially for their first game together. I would have liked to see the score all the time, not just after a team scores. It looked kind of blurry on the plasma but thats to be expected considering the game was not broadcast in HD.
 
I was really happy with the TV end.....and compared to last years show , it came in really clear compared to weeks signal! I think they will have the bugs out by the iowa state game and show the clock and score all the time! FB is a very good announcer and a big braves fan, and getting a coach's insight from CB is really nice.......I would give them an A with last night being their 1st real game!:wink:
 
I didn't watch the Insight telecast, but how did CB take BU's performance? I can't believe it's easy for a coach only a season ago to see it and not want to do something.

I have this funny picture in my head of him abandoning his broadcasting duties during a live game to run down to the bench and give the BU players hell.
 
He says things from a coach's perspective and gives you the same insight that the current staff will be talking about in the huddle.....it was very good IMO!8)
 
I enjoyed the telecast much more than last year's! I would also like to see the score all the time and I realize most of the replays were sponsored and that was the reason for the "Replay" graphic, but I could do without that so often as well. But the announcing and overall telecast was much better than I was expecting for the first game.
 
I thought Coach Buescher was really great, he was lucid and clear in his explanations. Bussone had some rough spots, but he's already better than Lee Hall ever was. I enjoyed the broadcast and look forward to more.
 
MediaCom continue to let down it's customers in the Peoria area. Living in Chillicothe, I was expecting to see the BU game last night on channel 78 as TVGuy and Mediacom itself had stated earlier in the day. Come 7:00 no BU game anywhere. Had to high tail it to a friends house in Peoria to catch the second half. Thanks again Mediacom. Oh did I mention Mediacom still does not offer any high definition packages for their cable customers in Chilli?

Better get Dish or Direct, you still won't get Bradley games but at least you will get lots of HD channels.
 
I live in Lincoln and was disapointed that Insight didn't carry the game down here only 40 miles from Peoria. I hope that changes in the future and they start showing the games.
 
I would really like to see a permanent bar that displays score, game clock, etc. that is common on almost all broadcasts. I really liked coach Bueschers commentary.
 
If you live in the outlying communities that have Insight service but did not have the game telecast, I suggest you call the local Insight office and ask them to carry it. I believe it is available to them.

Though I was at the game, I watched the game broadcast by video tape and was really impressed. Considering Insight had only about 2 weeks to prepare for the broadcast, had never done this before, and was working with a limited budget, I thought it was very well done and professional. There were a couple times where there was slight confusion where the program was going next, like after the game when Coach Buescher interviwed Coach Les, but that is insignificant compared to how well the game was covered, and the professional way the play-by-play and color commenatry went.

I agree about the time and score graphics, maybe that will change as they get more time and get feedback from viewers.
But the concern some had about fewer cameras didn't seem to materialize. I think it shows that you don't need a dozen camera angles and multiple replays from different views.
And I didn't mind that they did not have special features and "up close and personal" interviews to show during breaks and halftime. Who watches that stuff anyway, just tell me about the game and the stats, anyway.

Overall, very well done, and congratulations to Frank and Coach Buescher for a very good job. I am sure they will only get better.

I suppose there's a snowball's chance in the land down low that somebody has a clip of this and can post it on youtube, right? I'd love to hear Coach's comments immediately after that abortion.
 
I did not get to see the game but am encouraged by the positive comments. What camera angle was the prevalent one used? Frank used to be pretty good and Bish is always insightful. Was it smooth from game to commercial and vice versa...
 
There were a few brief awkward pauses due to a team of broadcasters and technicians who hadn't worked together before, but it was probably less than you would expect. Frank did a very good job for someone who hasn't done play-by-play for years. The predominant camera angle was high above midcourt, with variable zoom-in, but they did use some cutaways to courtside camera angles for free throws, and plays under the basket. The use of cameras was pretty good and I'd guess the director has done this before.

I'd like to hear what others thought, but I was overall very impressed for the first time on Insight.

I haven't seen the broadcast, but I think it should be noted that the UIC Pavilion wasn't designed with television broadcasts in mind. It's very hard to make the place look good on TV, and there are very few places for good camera angles.
