What do you see for the 07 lineup

I've observed the site for awhile but this is my first post.

I think Ruffin, Crouch, and Salley deserve a start.
Williams and Fears are talented enough to play from what I hear. This leaves a major height problem. With Singh, Egolf, and Thompson we do have some height but are they good enough to start or get significant minutes.
We also have Sassey, Brown, Warren, and our two Freshman guards (who I think will be redshirted). Let me know what you think.

This years starters (plus one) Your 07 lineup
DRuff 5'11 DRuff 5'11
Will 6'0 JC 6'5
JJ 6'3 Fears 6'4
Zach 6'8 Williams 6'5
JC 6'5 Salley 6'7
Salley 6'7 Warren 6'5

Not much difference really. The main question is how good will the bigs be?

But with this years team our biggest problem as I see it is our problems rebounding. And witht the team I am projecting we may be worse. Also I don't know if Salley will be able to match up with the MVC PF and C for the whole year.I hope Singh will be able to step up and maybe one of our Freshman Forward. Another question has anyone heard anything about Brown? Coming out of college I expected alot from him then he got bust during the tourney. Any new news?

Ruffin, Fears, and Crouch will start.

The other 2 spots are up for grabs, depending a lot on development and personnel. Salley and Warren are immediate candidates, and Brown and Williams may warrant consideration as well. Not knowing what we have in Egolf or Thompson, and not knowing who the JUCO big is going to be, it's hard to project the starters with any degree of accuracy.

I think this is the BEST lineup to start and play the MOST minutes:

PG - Lavin
G - Phillips
G - Warren
F - Jassey
C - Singh

Having so many good players that its hard to determine the last starter or two is a great problem to have. Ruffin, Fears, and Crouch are bound to start but beyond that its hard to judge.

you know what thats a dangerous lineup there
with lavin and philly draining the 3s, singh boarding and jassey throwing punches wed be unstoppable

I don't think Maniscalco or Buycks will redshirt. We lose 3 guards from this year's team (Adams, Franklin, and Tauai). So I think Jim will find a place for the 2 incoming freshmen as well as Fears, Williams, and Brown.

I think it might benefit one of them to redshirt but im not sure who it would be. They both are definately talented enough have an impact but where are all the minutes coming from in the guard position????..... unless we have the 4 guard lineup in at all times its going to be tough to give ruffin, crouch, fears, warren, williams, brown ,SM, and buycks all significant minutes... although i think thompson could be a redshirt candidate as well especially IF we do get this JUCO big

Mob...Don't forget Kevin Jones! Right now he only dresses for home games, but I hear he's coming on!

Had a conversation today with someone who knows the team better than I do and he seems to think Sam will be the first guard off the bench getting ready to take over point where Ruff leaves off. Thompson and Egolf coming off the bench but with significant minutes, and he says Fears is learning to play swing - a little less three a little more slashing. He seems to have major Q's with Williams(as I think we all do), and we also both hope Fears can keep his act together too. From the sounds of it three spots are set(salley, crouch ruffin) with competition from fears, warren, brown, and to some extent thompson and egolf for starting/time, and lots of minutes for sam, who is already in line for pg of the future. At least thats the way we think it shakes out... Just his opinions on the team and my conjecture.

You are talking of course about Sam Singh!

If Buycks does sign his LOI I see him getting minutes next year as well....the kid is strong for his age and has game.

Yeah, I don't know why we left him out, Maybe it's because there really aren't enough minutes to go around...

Can we get away with a whole another year of a 4-guard lineup, with Salley being down low? I'm not so sure.

But if we don't, we'll have to redshirt somebody. There's just not enough room.

That team is already recieving votes in the 2007 AP top 25 poll believe it or not, they have also been dubbed "The most Feared Startin 5 in MVC History." by Barry Hinson. Also, our 3 point record would go down in flames if these guys were on the court at the same time for just 4-5 minutes per game next year.
