What does a recruit look at.....

What does a recruit value. I have always said/thought NAME recognition is first. Guys want to be able to tell their posse/friends/classmates and other players on the AAU circuit I'm going to ________. (insert "biggest" name possible.) With that USUALLY comes TV appearances.

Certainly not ALL kids look at that but the majority, IMO, value the name. Obviously playing style, playing time, coach are all influential. Facilities don't hurt....first impressions go along way I would imagine.

Thoughts......

I think it all depends on the recruit. If we're talking about a top-tier player with NBA dreams, he's going to go to the best name school with the chance at the most exposure. I would imagine that players who are not dillusional about the NBA may look at other things, but name recognition is still number one. How do you think Duke and Caronlina are in every recruiting conversation they want to be in? Kids from California to Maine can wow people with the name equity of programs like that.

If its anything that is a crap shoot in life, its definitely recruiting. Most come down to "What do I like the most / What is best for me". But there are others out there that surprise you. Some people will actually think "Can I come here and help start something big?"

Some check the message boards, and if they see they are being trashed even before they commit, they look elsewhere.

I do think facilities play a part.....they all want to start the minute they arrive so PT is important....style of play or system the team employs......and to the smarter ones and education is important! The real smart ones just accept a scholie to BU!:D
