In all fairness, JL said during the chat here that Vogt would be most likely to take over primary recruiting duties.

No...he said Kyle would be the 'recruiting coordinator'. That's not a very glorious job. Basically you're coordinating the recruiting schedules for JL, JP, and the 'mystery' assistant. Vogt might be going on some recruiting trips, but he is going to be nowhere close to being our 'primary' recruiter. No way, no how.

Overall experience to the side for a moment.

You must have an African American on the staff. A connect to Chicago and specifically the Public League is VERY important and a strong connection and affiliation to Bradley I think is not a bad thing.

Recruiting is about forging relationships and I have a feeling this hire will have some very stong already forged relationships in the high schools of Chicagoland.

I would have liked a guy who was here to recruit and to work directly with our big men but if Beep Beep is the hire it is a good decision and will make us better in the back court defensively.

I though still am a little worried about our dedication coaching wise to the front court.

Given our track record over the past 4 seasons, there's no reason not to be. However, I think with our recent addition to the staff (Platt), we're leaps and bounds ahead of where we were at the end of last season. I can buy into a guy with 30+ years experience working with our bigs this year. In my world, there's nowhere to go but up in that department.

Why are we not saying the guys name....Willie Scott correct? I have not seen where it should be kept quiet lets just put it out there.

Anyone else worried about Vogt being responsible for recruiting duties?

He is the "recruiting coordinator", not the head recruiter. In fact, he will likely do less recruiting himself than the new assistant, and probably less than Jim Les and Jim Platt, who have more experience and connections. The recruiting coordinator is just an assigned title on a college staff that works under the head coach and keeps track of all the players being recruited, and knows when and who last communicated with them or is due to communicate next. It does not mean he is responsible for decisions, or for recruiting the players.

So he is like Lloyd from Entourage?

I have never watched Entourage, so I can't answer that. :)

But here is a good example-

Illinois Tight Ends Coach Greg Nord was recently named "Recruiting Coordinator" for the Illini football team. Most Illinois fans know little about him, or may have never heard of him. He doesn't do a lot of the actual recruiting, but has the responsibilities of coordinating the recruiting activities, and keeping information current on all the recruits.
