What is wrong with Sammy?

Us others can handle the education part.

Do I have to say anything else? I'd rather have a few Noble prize winners out of BU then NCAA championships. FWO what is your major and do you plan on leaving P-town? I'm curious to understand your rational. The vast majority of the students would be best served if BU's brand is closer to an Ivy school then the average state university.

We all want a winner out of BU but lets put things into perspective. Can we compete year in and year out with the NBA factory schools? NO! I'd have to believe we can have MVC competitive teams that challenge for the Valley title consistently and every so often do some damage in the NCAA. I hope this is what we all can agree on and I know we all will not agree on how.

Everyone knows Bradley is one of the top schools in the Mid-West, but it sure would be a boring Winter around Peoria with no Bradley basketball.

You're all over the map man. How about we start with the MVC first?

Nobel Prizes? Come on. That award lost all credibility a long time ago.

BU as a whole is better served going to the NCAA Tournament every year than winning MVC grades every year, plain and simple.

If you believe I'm all over the place, let me tell it like I feel. To me the first and foremost BU needs to put on the top of the list of priorities, that it becomes the best academic institution that it can become with or without sport programs. I believe a strong athletic program helps with the overall experience of an institution like BU and the basketball program when winning helps us in numerous ways. The Noble prize for certain areas have lost credibility but it is still deemed a serious prize for scientist, mathematicians, economist, chemist and those that dream big! We need to dream big and go after it all but when push comes to shove I'll side with academic achievements on how I view BU. I never once said anything about MVC grades! I did not even know there was a prize for that. I really do not care if the basketball players are scholars as long as they represent the school with class.

Actually, UK is not that bad academically -- http://www.uky.edu/webuk/subpages/nationalrank.html.

But, they do rank below BU in most rankings of colleges and universities.

I'm pretty sure bu fan 9 was talking about UK's basketball success and not any academic success they may have achieved since his next post was "Just win". I suppose that could mean whatever academic competitions BU may be involved in, but I doubt it.

I'm with SFP on this BradleyBrave. No one should ever attend BU based upon the success of the B-Ball team. The team complements the University and the players need to reflect the standards that the University wants to be known for first and foremost.

While I agree with this sentiment, it was academics first for me. But what the final selling point for me was when BU got in the fight at Villanova. I thought, now here's a school that meets all my needs: A fine academic institution where I'll get incredible personal attention, and a basketball program that will win and has fight.

What happened to this thread?? Way off track!!

Back to Sammy thread:

1. He could barely walk after the TCU game. Lots of play in a little amout of time.
2. Red Shirt question: His ankle is bone on bone. Next year will still be bone on bone.

Hope everybody had a great thanksgiving!

GO BRAVES!!

Wow... My casual statement about the Ivy League schools has transformed this thread. I am with Braves4life and SFP on this one. However, I think that a balance can be reached between academics and athletics. I have other thoughts but will not dilute this thread any further.

Go Sammy and Go BU!

Nice job Ben! Way to throw that red herring out there! :D

Amazing what boredom and bad basketball over the holidays can turn into...

We are in a "Basketball Fan Talk" thread, so what's the problem with discussing Bradley basketball over other things? Maybe someone, go for it SFP, could start an Academic Fan Talk thread.

If my memory serves me right, it was Villanova who started that fight. Bradley was simply defending themselves on a hostile court. I had NO problem with what BU did that night.

NOT according to Billy Packer who all but called BU a bunch of thugs the next day on the game of the week.....when he stated something to the affect of a team like BU goes into Villinova with nothing to lose and picks some fights to see if they could knock out a few superstars.

IF Zobs and Deon doen't go down we take those guys out that night.....

Oh sorry....sammy is a mess and doing the best he can on bad ankles. Its simple....he's going to struggle some if not most nights.
