What Makes A Fan?

I'm not suggesting that you (or the moderators) are.

I actually think this is one of the better moderated boards out there. I'm a member of a lot of BBs, and most are completely uncivil and irritating to be on (with good information or not). Like all things, I think there are aspects of bradleyfans.com moderating that could be improved, but I believe I'm on record saying that I think the moderating is good, and have never suggested it's bad.

and thanks..but some sure do........
....but note that several weeks ago, I resigned as a moderator....kinda got tired of being in the middle of arguments and getting blamed for everyone else's unhappiness (a position moderators seem to find themselves in)
I have better things to do and will leave the mediating between miserable people to someone else.....

so the moderating is all in the hands of others....you cannot blame me any more (not that some will stop some from doing it anyway!)

Cubs fans are "fans".

Bears fans are "fans".

Being a "fan" means you don't give a rat's @ss about any other team that your team may play. You simply cheer for YOUR team, come he11 or high water.

When your a "fan" your team is like family. You NEVER kick them to the curb! YOU can boo them and criticize them .... BUT NOBODY ELSE BETTER! ;)

I think that those who are offended by ANY criticism they read about Bradley and Bradley basketball are "fans".... like me. :) I can say what's wrong with my Braves BUT YOU CAN'T! ;) Get it?

Not on this site you can't.

Why does it always have to be one board vs. another board??

Along with an ISU fan, I am a Michigan fan...

I have one favorite blog/board call "MGoBlog.com"... when going there, there is a link to over 25 OTHER Michigan related blogs... I suppose they are in "competition" with each other for traffic and hits, but they all (from what I have seen) support each other... even post links from other peoples blogs on their own. The message boards often have links to other boards on those blogs as well...

Why does it always have to be one board VS. all other boards???

I find it highly unlikely that anyone who comes to BradleyFANS.com is not a fan of Bradley (excluding fans of ISU, CU, SIU, etc.)

Scouter, I may not always agree with you, but I always believed you were thoughtful and insightful. Now, if you really believe that, I am not so sure.:D

- Negative criticism of other institutions or individuals may also be considered
inappropriate at the discretion of the moderstors

I'm not trying to stoke the flames, but doesn't this rule technically imply that a type of criticism about Bradley can get deleted but the exact same type of criticism towards another program is allowed to stand? :)

I like to relate being a fan to marriage.
For better or worst, through sickness and pain, richer or poor, tell death do us part (while in some case's)

Oh, c'mon now, DC... 8)

Anyone who takes the time to visit and/or post here has a passion for Bradley basketball and wants BU to succeed. We're all fans one way or another. How some voice their "fandom" just differs from others.

Agreed. Personally, I am not a fan of the Chicago Cubs. I don't care for the Cubs. I hope my favorite team--the Cardinals--finishes higher than them. I do't spend one second of my day talking about the Cubs, going to Cub message boards, or buying Cubs stuff/tickets. It would make no sense.

Scouter, I know for a fact that not all people who post here claiming to be "Bradley fans" want Bradley to succeed.

I would interested to see this "proof" and "facts". I have yet to see a single Bradley fan post here who says they want Bradley to fail. Can you find a link for that?

Oh Sheesh OOB. I don't take this that seriously. I do enjoy good back and forth and discussion. I know some may see it as adversarial--I do not. To me you don't grow, get better, and achieve if you aren't willing to talk about and listen to other points of view. I am also of the belief that we should all question things and not just believe everything we are told.

Those are just my feelings. I love BU hoops and the University. Nothing anyone says on this board will change that. If you only saw the emails/text messages/money I spent on Bradley hoops you would understand. I have a close group of about five BU fans/alums who absolutely obsess about everything BU does during the season. I plan all events around BU games. Those fans laugh when they see others think I don't care. I don't worry if some guy I don't know thinks I'm a fan or not. No time for that. Of course much of that shows I don't have much of a life :)

But I do admit to enjoying conversations that challenge people to think. To me, that's life.

When I go home I go home. I don't drag this stuff along. But, I could help you with that Cub problem if you want :)

Do you really believe this to be true? Who comes on this board, spends time talking about BU basketball, voices their opinions about the state of the program, proclaims themselves a fan of Bradley basketball, but yet actually deep down wants them to fail?

That makes no sense to me...and I would seriously doubt it to be the reality here.
